Pretty sure i heard Courtney Cronin talk about hearing it from somewhere before i heard it from Schefter and all Schefter said was that he heard they talked about just giving CW a game off to basically take a breath and learn more. not in those words but whatever.

Schefter said the team considered a change. Silvy said players asked for a change. It's really two different things. Coaches and management talking about it doesn't shock me. Players asking for it would. I think the latter there is the more damning if it was true.

Players asking for a change is not really shocking, it’s not like they did it at a press conference. And it would make more sense that the players ask for it. They have no ties to drafting and picking CW, all they want to do is win, and CW has been terrible the last several games.

They aren't necessarily different, but the questions posted here are different. Schefter didn't report that players asked for it. Silvy did. And players asking for a change would be shocking or we'd not be discussing it... and Cole wouldn't need to deny it. It's fundamentally shocking. Simply talking about it isn't a shock from the coaches. Leaders have to talk about all options, even if briefly. It is their job to assess pro/cons of everything.

You really can't track who said what because it's reporters reporting on what reporters said and giving a twist to it to get an added scoop until it all becomes one big made up story.
I don't even have to put up a timeline on this one. It's just how it works with Chicago sports (and sports media in general).

I get the vet sentiment but really, when TF has that done anything for our young QBs in the past. Mitch didn't learn shit and Fields seemed to resent them and had a completely different style of play. Backup vets are failed starters.
