Fishbain’s Senior Bowl Mock via The Athletic:
Round 1, Pick No. 18 (mocked trade from Seattle): Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota
At 6 feet 5 3/4 and 339 pounds, Ersery has a goal for the combine: “I want to show that big boy’s got wheels on him.” He was a standout player during the first day of practices, using a strong punch to win multiple one-on-one pass-rush reps. “I’m physical, coachable,”
Ersery said about what he wants to prove this week. “It doesn’t matter what the weather is, I can still go out there and f—ing play hard. I don’t let the circumstances dictate my play. I can pick up the playbook easy. And I’m versatile. I can switch to left, play right. That’s what I wanted to show.” Ersery went 33rd in
Dane Brugler’s latest mock draft.
Round 2, Pick No. 39 (from the Carolina Panthers): Donovan Ezeiruaku, edge, Boston College
Few players had more highlight-reel reps than Ezeiruaku, whose power, ability to rip through offensive tackles and pursuit were all on display in Mobile. On the first day, in a rep against West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum, Ezeiruaku swiped down the offensive lineman’s hands and showed his burst to the quarterback. He’d be a nice complement to Montez Sweat.
Round 2, Pick No. 41: Jonah Savaiinaea, OL, Arizona
On Day 1, Savaiinaea played tackle and said after practice that he thought he overset with his hands. “That’s not me,” he said. “I want to show the coaches I can respond to adversity, so I’ll come back tomorrow and show that I belong here.” At guard Wednesday, he said his eyes were “great,” and now it’s about trusting his hands. Savaiinaea, who’s a shade under 6-4, 339 pounds, said he prefers playing inside because he likes to get his hands on the defender right away. He had several reps against one of the top players in Mobile: Texas A&M’s Stewart.
Round 2, Pick No. 50 (mocked trade from Seattle): Grey Zabel, G/C, North Dakota State
Considered one of the winners early in the week at the Senior Bowl, Zabel stood out because of his strength at the point of attack. He kept defensive linemen at bay, moved his feet well and wasn’t fazed by the jump in talent. The question for scouts — and the Bears — is how he handles the responsibilities at center. If he can manage the center calls and the snapping, he certainly has the rest of the skills necessary for the line, and the Bears need a starting center.
Round 3, Pick No. 72: Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State
Brugler said Noel helped his draft stock over the first two days of practice. We knew about the speed, but one rep caught my eye. On a deep ball down the left sideline, Noel was covered well but showed impressive body control to adjust to the ball in the air and still come down with it for a big gain. If the Bears don’t re-sign Keenan Allen, they’ll need a No. 3 receiver.
