Well if we're going to compete with the Heat for real, we're going to need to have players that can actually guard players. Raja Bell would be a fine choice for defending Wade, and he can hit the 3. Perfect fit at the SG spot. Now if you want Korver or whoever else backing him up, that's great. Shooting off the bench is a perfectly fine idea. If you want Deng gone, you better get a player that can at least have a chance at guarding LeQueen. Deng does an ok job, could do worse than him. One option is Matt Barnes. I think he was on a 2 million dollar contract last season, so we can probably get him on the cheap anyway. He fits in the same mold as Bell. I'd be pleased with both. I'm pretty sure Noah or Boozer can hold their own with Bosh...most likely Noah defensively and Boozer matching his offensive production.

You don't need Deng's offense anymore. We have Rose/Boozer/Arenas or Redd, offense will take care of itself. Deng and Noah just cut and board. They don't need the ball and shouldn't expect it.

Why keep Deng though? I'd rather have Taj or James Johnson's endless potential :) than Deng's contract, health considerations and poor offensive fit. Not to mention, we're not talking about an all-defensive forward or anything. Losing Deng in the situation I mentioned above is great both short and long term.
Because I doubt anyone would take him. Plus, he's not that bad all things considering. 17 and 7 is still 17 and 7. Better than 12 and 5 or something that another cheap 3 would give us. I think Thibodeau forces him to learn to shoot the corner 3, so he may be of some use yet.

I see that. I get put in a trance at times with Korver's 53% from the arc last year. Bell or Barnes would be great.

Korver only shot 110 3's last year. Then again...he missed almost half the season. Regardless, that's a great percentage, so I can see how you'd be heavily enticed.

I agree, I think Thibs makes him shoot the three. I was listening to VDN's Q&A with Clipper fans and a question was asked about how to utilize Baron Davis' 3 point output. VDN had a weird answer, almost a conservative reply on how to take the "right shot" for the "right percentage". I'm hoping Deng's poor 3 pt attempts were a result of Vinny's awful coaching. I seem to remember a high percentage of Deng corner 3 kick outs during the Skiles era.

Anybody here who would give T-Mac or Iverson a chance?

T-Mac´s injury should be over after the offseason and from what I´ve hear, the Bulls have the best docs.

If he is healthy he can be a damn good player. Question is his ego, same as Iveron´s. Will they accept their role in a team and will they play acceptable D?

I would try them with a one year contract if we don´t get any better players.

I wouldnt sign AI or Tmac. Not worth it at all. Unless Tmac would take very little money and I dont see that happening. I see him going to a contender to try and win a ring.

Old corpses like Redd, AI, T-Mac are all pointless signings. These are the guys who can only be good when they're in their prime, their games are made to be the man. Ask them to be a role player and they just can't do it, how many times do teams have to get burnt by this before we learn?

We've got a core group of guys who are young, we should be looking at another young guy who can grow with the team. Raja Bell is a nice enough player, but he's 34. After this off-season we're not going to have space for a long time, and we're going to spend some of it on a 34 year old? Really?

I'd much rather go after someone like Morrow, take a risk that we can develop him into a more complete player than he is right now. Or pick up some other young guy in a trade where we help a team dump salary. But work something out with an eye to the future, not a short term fix.

Oh crap, the Nets are going to get Morrow for 3/12 because the Warriors are morons. Sigh.

Instead Redick at 3/20. I guess you have to overpay to get someone who is restricted, but not really thrilled with this, not a lot of upside to Redick.

Can we trade players with the Nets? I'd much rather have Morrow at that contract than Redick at this one...

I agree...Morrow is younger and more athletic and a much more efficient shooter.

I don't like these signings. I'd rather have bg then kover at 5 and reddick at 7.

Well...deal with it. It is what it is. I still can't believe Redick for 7 million...

i hope the contract is 9-10 million on year 1, and 8-7 million year 2, 3-4 million year 3.

Even if they dont like BG, they could have done a lot more with 12 mill to fill the sg slot. Those guys can't even run the break with Rose.

That's not feasible...contracts don't have dramatic drops like that...

The players currently on the roster hit 63 three pointers last season. We had to bring in shooters, and Redick + Korver are two of the best. Can't really fault the logic on these moves, even if they're not the exact ones I would have liked.
