About twice a year on Bulls sites, there is a thread about retiring Rodman's jersey.

About 0 times a year, no threads on retiring NVL or Gilmore. Yet, it's the same rehash about retiring other players numbers in every Rodman thread(because Rodman threads usually turn into a "retire his number" topic at some point.

hmmmm?

Although at some point during these retire Rodman's number threads, there's always people who (justifiably and correctly) say if you retire Rodman, you have to retire Norm and/or Gilmore as well.

But most(if not all) of those people didn't see Norm and/or Gilmore play. Some experts.

Eh...younger generation what do you expect? At least if they know the contributions of those players to the Bulls franchise, what more could you ask for?

Since when do you have to be an expert to have an opinion? And since when do you have to buy a ticket and watch a guy play to know how good he was as a player?

I don't think so...

I watched Rodman...and he became a pain in the ass over his 3 years with the Bulls. He played lackadaisical defense, and didn't bring the intensity he brought every night as a Piston. He didn't give 100% every night like Jordan did. He became aloof and lazy and his game suffered because of it.

You don't put a guy who didn't represent the Bulls ONCE in an all star game in the position to have that honor bestowed on him while multiple all stars like NVL and Gilmore are ignored.

You don't have to be an expert to have that opinion...that is just common sense...

If Rodman's number is retired, the Bulls better get ready to hang #13 for Joakim Noah on the rafters

Your opinion and expertise is only as accurate as your experience. Otherwise, you'll be another parrot, snagging the input off some one-eyed nut's shoulders.

That makes no sense...

That is what HISTORY is for...so if I think Babe Ruth was a great player, I am a parrot? Makes no sense...

Rodman busted his ass in the weight room and training while he was a Bull. He never quite had the explosiveness that he had earlier in his career with the Pistons but he was still a great defender in his own right. Still, there is no way that the Bulls should retire his jersey. Hell, Luol Deng's jersey should be retired before Rodman's very arguably.

If that's the case, retire Kukoc's number too...

Well you have arguments for almost every Bulls player who did anything during the dynasty era. They were just a helluva team. They owned the 90's. But dudes like Rodman, Kukoc, Harper, Kerr, Grant were all major parts of those teams. Shit they should just retire all 90's Bulls anything!

I just hope Rodman is alive for the 20th anniversary of the 1996 championship and the 6th championship...

I am glad you brought up Horace...if you retire Rodman...you HAVE to retire Horace Grant's number. No ifs ands or buts about it...

It makes perfect sense. Let's examine your hyperbole argument in contrast to this topic.

If you think Babe Ruth is a great player, that is your opinion. His number is retired, so where else would we have to go? Nowhere, that's the flaw of using hyperbole to make a case.

But one thing is for sure. You're not going to tell me that my opinion is wrong, because I can actually base it off something that I saw with my two eyes. Then turn around and be a complete hypocrite and say something like, Rodman shouldn't get his number retired because X and X players should have their numbers retired instead.

If you want to play the opinion card, then it goes both ways my friend.

Retire Rodman's 91. End of story. I say this, because this is a Rodman thread, and I saw every Bulls, Rodman game. I think he MORE than deserves to be up in the rafters, even after only 3 years. I never said that I don't think NVL or Gilmore should be retired, that is for their threads, and by those who have witnessed them play. I would value a Bulls expert who followed their careers in Chicago, up until today, rather than value all of the people here who have to repetitively respond to every opinion that disagrees with their opinion, but have nothing to go by, other than statistics and reputation.

Then start a "Retire Horace Grant's Number" thread and begin your campaign, if you believe it so much.

You think my reply was hyperbolic, I think your quasi-brooding, supposedly deep statement about a parrot was....stupid, and hypocritical. Opinions don't have accuracy. THEY ARE OPINIONS!!!

Case closed...opinions all...I disagreed with your opinion...and others did too...I watched Rodman play...so your opinion is far from fact.

I believe Jordan was the greatest ever...I am 36 years old...the NBA is a lot older...I have heard others state that Jordan was the greatest...definitely. They were saying it when Jordan was 28 years old!!! I didn't experience Wilt Chamberlain...I have seen some of his games, some of his games are not even available on video....anywhere! Yet I hold firm that Jordan, in any era, would be the greatest player ever. I stand by that.

And by the way...Babe Ruth's stats clearly show how great he was as a player...that is why they keep stats...for reference...its the same reason they have history, philosophy, math, science...etc.
