They need to fix the DL., and OL. Pass rush is key to this defense anyway.
True. Start from the lines comes from Jim Finks.

However, the Lovie defense starts with the 3tech, Will linebacker and the FS.

So Flus' defense needs these three positions most (along with a sturdy but athletic nose). Now the Bears need at least two out of three of them and possibly all three if Jackson is cut in 2023.

Roque Smith defense allowed 49points(7TDs) in a game. That tells all and time to rebuild around Justin Fields.

It's 2022 and he isn't doing anything.
No, he was often a step away from a sack, which is a pressure.

You are too smart to only look at sacks.

Yes, he only had 1 sack with the Bears, but he was about 90 percent of the pressure that came from the DE position.

I think Smith was worth a 1st, but I do like what Poles is doing. Fuck paying LBers, loser ball gets us no where. Pay O-Line/DLine, QB, WR, Secondary.
If Smith was already under contact and the original team already paid out his signing bonuses then it's likely he'd yield better compensation.

Poles is great at deconstructing a team and bringing in third rate players. (Look at the fringe WRs he signed.) Unlikely that a pick at the bottom of the second round will replace Roquan. And remember the draft is a huge gamble and half of the players fail or are not quality NFL players.

Now the real challenge will be putting together a quality roster. Prediction: a short career for the latest failure at GM. and that Roquan will thrive with the Ravens.

I'll just say this....yeah, he's still young but this team just got hammered for 49 points where he was pretty much a spectator. He plays like that in Baltimore....he'll be long gone before he ever sees a penny of an elite player's type of contract. The team is doing a deep rebuild and regardless of his age.....a huge contract would have made him more of a problem than a solution.
They're gonna need to open up the offense a little more if they keep giving up points like that. At least Dallas kept scoring fast and giving them some time to try and come back. But if the Bears get down 2-3 scores in a game where they are losing TOP, then running on first, second, and third downs ain't gonna get it.

So would you say Robert Quinn was productive?
