Hi ho, Hi ho...it's off the road you go.

Hope you all decided to stay home.

Nope. We went. The roads really werent that bad today. Drove to chicago last night and stayed at the crown plaza right down the street from the united center. Drove home today around 2 without much problem. Was able to do around 50mph most of the way on the toll road. i still dont think it was worth the stress but the kid enjoyed it. Told my wife yesterday we werent going. She said she was no matter what and she was giving my ticket to her mom. So i figured she was safer with me going.

I got towed six times and was able to get myself out once. I delivered four times in gives hours because I spent over two hours stuck in the middle of streets...what a rough night

You can...it did stink but my faith kept me from a meltdown...and that meltdown would have been epic.
Three things that happened....
During one of the tows while getting it setup with my drivers window all the way down I got a full blade of snow from IDOT plowed onto me, the inside of my car and my phone
During another tow I had two orders to be delivered. I called the shop they forgot to remake the order
While handing off those pizzas, I fall straight down on packed ice smashing my right elbow on the ground. I kept the pizza straight and did not drop the six pack (not that I had anytime to adjust)

Two of my deliveries was thru up to three feet of snow.

Positive? One guys drive was about 18 inches of snow and his service hadn't come yet. He apologized and tipped me $10. He's awesome

My elbow is not broken from the fall

Snow drifts have my entrances to my townhouses entrances all blocked and the association hasn't paid a visit since 10 pm last night. Not to mention my roommate and girlfriend are sitll here and they're not going into work.... SO WORK FROM HOME TODAY. Yay.

What sort of restaurant would send employees out making deliveries in the midst of a blizzard?.

No kidding. "Sorry, no delivery service today due to a FUCKING BLIZZARD." Seems pretty straightforward to me. At a minimum the assholes ordering pizzas shoulda been tipping $20+.

My neighbor just bailed me out from shoveling w/his snowblower.

Took him 10 minutes, and he gets a free case of good beer...a $35 value.

And aren't these pizza places liable sending out people driving, are do they sign a waiver?.

I was going to get Lou Malnati's for my Super Bowl party, but I canceled my party and the pizza because of snow and instead my girlfriend made home made pizza.

Lou Malnati's sent out a notice that they were closing early at 6 pm last night. So some places did indeed close. However, I imagined many stayed open. And assholes were still going to order pizza just because.

Not sure about the liability, but I think there can be a case made about worker safety. Was discussing this with a workers right's lawyer after I saw that Lou Malnati's cancelled deliveries last night and you could have told your boss that the conditions were not safe and refused to deliver. He could try to fire you, but you have a strong case in IL...even if it is a "dismiss with no reason" state. Unless you consent, an employer cannot put you into a dangerous situation.

I can see it now, law firm of Dewey, Cheetum, and Howe files class action claim.:parrot:

When I was in HS, friends delivered for the very first Rossatti's not far from Brett. They didn't care b/c it was a challenge, they were young, and tips were good.

$10 for a delivery yesterday was an insult, everyone should have been tipping an amount equal to that of the order...which during blizzards should be $20.

I delivered pizza's in the 70's...We were treated as a subcontractor and got 10-99's for tax purposes...I'm guessing that would eliminate the pizza place from any liability as we ran our own business.. But the way lawyers and the courts are today...Anything could happen

Yea back then employers could yank the employees more...and if they were paid under the table it was that much rougher (I worked at a at a couple of pizzas joints in HS was being paid under the table and it just blew what they made me do).
