So - do we believe in Ryan Poles now?

Rookie QB and thrown together team in their 1st year. I'd be happy with 7-8. Mediocre.

The way the team has been shaping up I expect we'll be in the playoffs unless there's some surprise bums. 11-12? I expect we're going to be KC good now and quickly.
I don't think many here would be satisfied with a 7-8 record. They sure wouldn't if Justin Fields was the QB. Sounds like excuses are already being made and we were told excuses were unaceptable.

Are you going to end up on my rookie QB basher ignore list because you feel compelled to white knight for Fields against Williams?
I've always suspected the BS that goes on around here tracks back to Rex fans and the Rexcuses. This convinces me more. You sound just like the Fields cult on Twitter when someone said Williams would still be a rookie.
You can't even wait for excuses because you're all fired up to get revenge. Be a PITA if you want, but you won't get revenge, you'll just get ignored, at least by me.

Fields isn't our QB any more. Williams is and he is a rookie. That is just a fact.
If you want to white knight for Fields go be a Steelers fan and call for him to start. Complain about the McCaskeys. But Williams was probably still in high school when the Bears started screwing Fields, he's not your target.
And neither am I, who gave Fields a lot of excuses and still do.

Very true. Picking the consensus #1 QB when you don't have a QB. ..not a tough choice.
Getting yourself into the position where you can pick the consensus #1 QB without being anything like the worst team in the league not so easy though right?

This draft fell extremely well the reason for that is a number of key decisions Poles has made to bring this situation about. Hard to remember a more exciting time to be a Bears fan and you have to give the GM a great deal of credit for that. I was on the fence with him but he has had an exceptional 12 months setting things up.

This is the start of a new era which will define his tenure, this is his team now and the signs are very good.

If Caleb works out and Rome is a beast, not to sell Poles short, but it'll be clear evidence that being a good/successful GM includes a lot of luck. No one thought Carolina would be that bad last year even after trading DJ Moore away so Caleb Williams falls into your lap. Then you have the draft line up in a way that allows a guy who would be the #1 WR prospect in a lot of drafts fall to you at #9. That's luck, friends, and those moves will be the defining moves of his tenure.

No.

He wasn't the dumbest GM last night (LOL Atlanta's GM hit the meth pipe hard when he said that 'if we have to sit Penix for 4 years because we're getting production from Kirk, that's good'). He also won't be tempted to have the biggest knee-jerk reaction out of desperation in not getting one of the top 6 QBs in Vegas, I halfway expect them to do something stupid and desperate today.

But WR3 this year and likely WR2 next year being more important than LDE1, 3T, LT, and C this year? Don't get it, we used to make fun of the Lions for doing shit like this. I guess Tyler Scott not being overwhelmed learning a new playbook and moving up the depth chart 1 spot was more important.

The most successful people make their own luck. It’s amazing how hard work, dedication, optimism, and intelligence are character traits of a lot of “lucky” individuals.

I for one will not be happy if they decide not to play two of their games.

This is a horrible take. Thanks for your contribution.

I guess they like the development of Dexter and view walker who is getting paid 10 mil a year as lde1. As for ol the two best tackles in draft were taken before 9 and idt it’s high value drafting interior oline in top 10

I’ve always said that just statistically-speaking, Poles and Eberflus are likely to become just the latest on a long line of Bears GMs and head coaches who suck. Poles appears to be bucking the trend, though. Here’s to hopefully real change on and off the field!

Cousins isn’t playing 4 years in Atlanta. He’ll be gone by 2026.

That and right now, you need to look at Allen as a rental. Z's post was short sighted. The great thing about Allen is that the situation could change since he's older and buds with Caleb but Poles can't expect that.

A 7-8 record is absolutely unacceptable. The Bears must play all 17 games! . . .

I just hope they get Allen for another 2years but if he walks this offseason for one last big payday(unlikely given his age), we can start to talk about comp picks!! @BaBaBlacksheep
