And Black Panther is nominated for Best Picture. There were so many better films more deserving, in fact Black Panther was an average film...mediocre like the first Ant-Man. Where was Ant-Man's nomination? Where was The Dark Knights nomination? Sure that movie was average but at least it had one great performance. Black Panther was the epitome of "meh." It received a nomination for Best Costume Design which it definitely should win, that was the only exceptional part of that average movie.

Hows the market looking on wardrobes?

What are the other nominations? I thought Black Panther wasn't bad, but assuming there are better options

I thought Black Panther was kind of dull and yet one could easily make the argument it's in the top half of films nominated for Best Picture.

Better than:

Green Book
Bohemian Rhapsody
Vice
and you could debate A Star is Born, which is a remake anyway.

I hope it wins to be honest. To have a comic hero movie win best picture would be refreshing since they always pick boring as **** drama's that are supposed to tell some moral BS story. People want to go to the movies to be entertained, not to feel like driving off a cliff when they get out of the theater.

Boy, the Oscars really do suck. Worse than the pro bowl.

Yeah but just because they are entertaining movies doesn't mean they are good movies and worthy of awards.

I mean, I'd rather Black Panther win than Roma. I don't get the fascination with that movie. It's ok to me. Why are people trashing Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody? I thought those 2 movies were pretty good too.

I saw Vice, and liked Sam Rockwell, but to watch that performance and then learn he was nominated? Makes no sense.

He did an average at best George W Bush impersonation, and licked his fingers while eating in every scene. And wasn't in the movie that much.

The Academy is so fucked up.

The need to increase Best Picture nominees to as many as ten, and throw a bone to comic book movies is stupid.

Next we'll have Transformers getting nominations.

Getting nominated makes movies more money. Comic book movies? You have a bone to pick, this has nothing to do with comic books and everything to do with Hollywood making more money, regardless of genre.

Roma makes more money because of the expanded list, not a comic book movie, but a movie that doesn't get nominated if it is just 5 films. Roma could win, so there is a positive side to nominating more movies.

Yeah, I get it. Saying we are a best pic nominee helps a movie. For now. Until every movie can say it.

I am not paying to see Spiderman: The Remake 2 because it gets a nom as one of 30 nominees.

It makes the designation less meaningful. And feels like a cheap trick.

Hate to burst your bubble, there is no santa claus, tooth fairy, and the Academy Awards are all determined through payoffs and agendas. It's not even some conspiracy, there are firms that exist specifically for the purposes of buying off members of the 'Academy'. The stars don't dress themselves, it's all endorsements. It's more fake than professional wrestling by a few orders of magnitude.
