and black panther is nominated for best picture. There were so many better films more deserving, in fact black panther was an average film...mediocre like the first ant-man. Where was ant-man's nomination? Where was the dark knights nomination? Sure that movie was average but at least it had one great performance. Black panther was the epitome of "meh." it received a nomination for best costume design which it definitely should win, that was the only exceptional part of that average movie.

I am not paying to see Spiderman: The Remake 2 because it gets a nom as one of 30 nominees.

It makes the designation less meaningful. And feels like a cheap trick.

100% When they first expanded to 10 no studio heads or anyone with any real power didn't admit it, but it was the worst kept secret ever, total cash grab.

It won't go more than 10 like it is now, but I could see them go the way the Golden Globes have and split drama and comedy musical into two separate categories, if they did that they would have to go back to 5 in each, can't have 20 best pictures nominations, that would be too greedy. Although it is Hollywood.

I mean, I'd rather Black Panther win than Roma. I don't get the fascination with that movie. It's ok to me. Why are people trashing Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody? I thought those 2 movies were pretty good too.

If Black Panther wins Best Picture, they should stop giving out Oscars. Roma, First Reformed (which is not nominated) and The Favourite were the only movies I felt deserved a nomination in 2018.

Black Panther being nominated is nothing more than a pander job to quiet down the Jada Pinkets of Hollywood.

I've seen that and the dreadful A Star Is Born, neither were even good movies, let alone BEST, while Blackkklansman was a step up but still not amazing. I usually try to see all the nominees before the show, but none of these movies look very good to me and one you can only see on Netflix which I don't bother with at the moment.
