I think Anthony Rizzo can officially be called up today without forfeiting year seven of control. But don't set that in stone just yet.

Well Iowa is in Round Rock today. So I guess that wouldn't be too far to go for Rizzo, but if it was going to happen today I think they would've already made the call.

It'll be Monday so he can open up at Wrigley. That's my guess or they could have taken the pressure off a little bit and do the Starlin Castro call-up. Where Castro started on the road.

Also, Rice I think it's the 23rd of June where he can get called up.

I think if a roster move isn't revealed by this weekend then that might be an indicator they are going to wait until Super Two is no longer on the table.

I say Monday, so he can make his debut at Wrigley.

Maybe they don't want it to look like they were just waiting for service time.

Rizzo is also 3 games away from that 162 games in AAA that Theo has talked about as well.

I still like the day of his call-up vs. the Mets on Monday. He'll vs. a great pitcher in Johan Santana, tho. It'll be good for him.

Yeah I think with all the expectations heaped on him, starting out against a tough lefty like Santana at home isn't the best idea.

Call him up then but don't put him in the lineup for that day, and start him Tuesday

With how much hype of the "Savior" role being placed upon him, I doubt there's a chance that Rizzo would be called up and benched the same day. I suspect we'll see him called up on Tuesday, but he'll be in uniform in the dugout on Monday. One of Campana, Cardenas, Valbuena, and Mather goes to Iowa... though sending either Valbuena or Mather down will expose them to waivers I do believe.

They should keep Valbuena since he seems to be hitting well and can back up most of the IF spots better than Cardenas. I don't think most people really care about Mather though and if someone claims him then they're more desperate than the Cubs are

I am pretty sure Cardenas has options, and he isn't getting playing time with Barney and Valbuena hitting. He would be the odd one out. The Cubs are actually short on right handed sticks as is so I think Mather is safe.

I think Cardenas is a solid player, but he's really been a disappointment in his callup. He's probably the guy I'd prefer to send down. This way, he'll get playing time again and hopefully continue to develop. I'm with you on Mather as well. However, he's a better utility guy than Baker overall. I think Campana should hit the bench and be used as he's best suited for... late-inning PR and defensive replacement for Soriano.

lulz @ Bleacher Report ranking Jackson as our 8th best prospect, Szczur not on list

We got Cardenas because Oakland DFAd him from their 40-man roster. He was optioned to Iowa out of ST. So, he can head back down without being exposed to waivers right now. His option for the season has already been burned.

I wouldn't be surprised if one could find 7 guys with higher ceilings in the Cubs system than Jackson, but given that isn't the only thing used to rank prospects it is kind of silly. Szczur is still a raw, toolsy guy that hasn't really lit up advanced A yet. Also to be honest right now there isn't a lot to seperate the guys in the 5-15/20ish range. I mean clearly Rizzo, Jackson, Baez, Soler, Almora are the top 5, but beyond that you can make a decent argument for just about anyone in that range filling out the top 10.

Options are option years. He can be sent down on that option that he has burnt over and over this year and it still counts as one option.
