lulz @ Bleacher Report ranking Jackson as our 8th best prospect, Szczur not on list

Lake and Vitters above Jackson? Ha! Almora 4th, and he hasn't even signed yet? :shot:

It might be a good idea to make certain a player is actually a team's prospect before you rank him as one.

Options are option years. He can be sent down on that option that he has burnt over and over this year and it still counts as one option.

Which is why I mentioned that he already burned his option for this year and is safe to be sent down... Kinda tried to point out that he obviously had an option for this year. Perhaps I should have worded it a bit better.

That's what he meant but he worded it oddly... I think.

Ah the way I read it at first made it seem like you had the common misconception that an option is something that can only be used once and not for an entire year. My mistake.

Nah, it's cool. I can see how I kind of muddied that response up.

Burke's been surprisingly impressive at Peoria this year. He's earned the promotion. Hoping that Cates puts it together, but he may need to be moved to the pen.

His transition to pitching has been super smooth so far, and a lefty that can throw in the low 90s always has a shot.

Oh I agree. If Cates can turn out to be either a back-end SP or solid middle RP... to go along with what most people presumes will be a success overall with Rizzo, that trade will turn out to be absolutely golden. Especially if Cashner sticks to his current relief role... and Ha continues to struggle as he has.

I'm pulling for Burke though... already headed to High A after outright dominating in Low A as a LHP starter this year. Low 90s FB with a solid change and a potentially plus curve. He's been said to hit 94 at times, so maybe that's something to eventually expect form him as he continues to develop.

I don't know how much zip he is likely to add to his fastball since he is already 23/24, but I am a fan of Burke.

IowaCubs twitter feed noted the large crowd. I am guessing the fans in Des Moines are figuring this is their last chance to see Rizzo

I would have been there if I didnt have a wedding to go to. That is the general consensus around town that this will be his last weekend here.
