The reported Golden State offer will not get it done. Magic want to package a bloated contract (Turk/Gilbert) with Dwight Howard.

Seems like the phones are ringing in Orlando

Almost anything that gets rid of Carlos Boozer's contract is a good thing. Trading him for Vince Carter wouldn't be that bad of a way to go.

Even if the Bulls picked up VC's option, he would still only be 2 years as opposed to the 5 years Boozer has.

But, probably, the Bulls just wouldn't pick up VC's option.

Another thing the Bulls could try and do is a sign-and-trade with Denver for Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler. Denver is in-need of a PF now that Kenyon Martin is likely going to leave in free agency. I wouldn't be shocked to see some interest on their part in-regard to Boozer.

I'm pretty sure the best the Bulls could hope for is a J.R. Smith+Wilson Chandler sign-and-trade for Carlos Boozer. And that is one that may not be worth it for the Bulls.

Wait a minute, a 35 year old Vince Carter is better acquired than JR Smith and Wilson Chandler?

The thing about dumping Boozer in most situations other than trading for Dwight and either Hedo or Arenas is that our team gets worse. Carter doesn't help us at all except free up cap space, which may or may not mean anything depending on how the CBA works out. JR Smith and Wilson Chandler would probably help us, but they have an equal chance of doing nothing. And even then, I don't know if they're enough to push us past Miami. Still, I think that kind of deal (or even better, putting in Afflalo instead of Smith) would be the best case scenario for us if we're looking to get rid of Boozer except if we trade for Dwight.

at the same time if the booxer/howard story is true we should do almost anything to get howard with the untouchables being rose/boozer/asik i guess

I guess practically speaking, we're screwed in terms of getting Howard. Whatever deal we would like to give them is either screwing Orlando (so obviously they wouldn't accept) or screwing us (I find it unlikely that the Bulls trade half the squad for Howard and Arenas/Hedo). It was always a pipe dream anyway, so I guess this isn't news. Freaking CBA agreements...complicate everything.

Why would you have Asik as untouchable?

We can't fall into the whole "Grass is greener" concept, and want other bad contracts/broken players, just for the sake of our Carlos frustrations.

I think the only player on the Bulls roster that should be considered untouchable is Rose.

Everyone else could be traded as long as we get back something good in return.

No way. I didn't say that at all. It depends if the Nuggets would accept an offer like that. If so, that is way better than a Vince Carter for Boozer deal.

Yeah man. I honestly like a line-up that's:

Noah-Wilson Chandler-Deng-Smith-Rose just as much as I like a Noah-Boozer-Deng-Bogans-Rose line-up defensively. Chandler can do just about as much as Boozer at that end of the floor. You definitely lose a little bit of rebounding but at least you could still bring Taj or Asik off the bench. And, offensively, I see a lot of an improvement, too.

For the record, I heavily favor Afflalo over Smith.

Is Chandler a impending FA, if so the Bulls still get a ton of cap relief going forward, while improving the scoring from the 2 guard spot.

There's no way Denver loses Afflalo now.

Wilson Chandler at PF? not sure I like that idea

He's 6'8" so he's a tweener, but even if the Bulls pull off the trade with Denver, Chandler could be the 6th man and Taj could start. I like the fact of getting rid of Boozer's contract.

Yeah, it has its downside. He is a very good shot blocker and he's played the position a lot as a Knick. But we all know their defensive ability. It would be useful as a up-tempo/small ball line-up though.
