It won’t be Ryan. Too much of an attention whore.

My favorite teams
  1. Los Angeles Lakers
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Los Angeles Kings
  1. Clemson Tigers
Problem is he is under contract and teams can block this kind of move. It’s unfair but reality. I remember this happened the first time Lovie tried to hire Marinelli.

I don’t know what the Bears are going to do it’s depressing as hell. The ripple effect from that missed kick will probably define Nagy’s tenure.

That’s a bit extreme. We still are the best DC job available. I’m gonna wait and see who we hire before saying that.

I would be shocked if Harbaugh blocked him.

The Ravens have usually been pretty good about allowing guys to take promotions.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Miami Hurricanes
  2. Northern Illinois Huskies
Best two names I've seen so far are Pagano and Rex Ryan.

Gregg Williams is a close third.

Bowles for sure would've been my number 1 choice though.

I think Nagy gets his DC from Philly or KC.

Ken Flajole maybe? Lifetime defensive guy. Current Eagles LB. Coach. 3 years DC experience on shitty Rams teams...

Also Gary Gibbs. Current chiefs LB coach. Probably knows Nagy the best. Not the sexiest pick. Same deal. He has experience at DC.

Those 2 were just wild speculative guesses on my part. This is still the good ole boys league. Nagy might just go with a guy he knows.

All I know is I rather not promote someone who's never been a DC in the NFL. There's a big difference between coaching a specific position and game planning for NFL Os and calling the D during games.

Of the actual possibilities there's no one that gets me excited.

Ideally, it be someone that has had sustained(more than 1 season) success calling an aggressive 3-4.

Rex Ryan is the top candidate imo, but I dont know if he or the bears would be interested in that marriage.

In the NFL all non head coaches are considered assistant coaches so going from position coach to DC is not considered a promotion that can't be blocked.

If this is their guy hope you’re right

Couple outside the box names:

1) Jim Leavitt, DC Oregon. Got our OC from there why not the DC? Ties to Fangio and Harbaugh. Started the South Florida program from scratch and was a very successful coach from 97-2009. Was the LB’s coach for the 49ers under Harbaugh and DC Fangio from 2011-2014. Highly successful everywhere he’s been.

2) Chris Hewitt, Secondary Coach Ravens. Bright young mind, up and coming.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed someone mentioned Hewitt.

I would look under the Greg Williams hood. Like his aggressive style.

I bet Donatell is heading to Denver.

Also what about Del Rio.

John Pagano would be a solid option.

Rex Ryan is a big risk/high reward option.

A dark horse would be Mike Nolan. He was a guy I was touting to be DC if Fangio left with the Nagy signing. Has previous experience calling plays and has helped New Orleans the last two years field a solid defense as linebackers coach (one of the best run defences in the league this year).

Either are good choices. Ryan's outspoken but wasn't nearly as controversial as a DC and not voice of the team. He was also the 1st guy I thought of when I heard Fangio may leave. His Parkey comments may hurt him if he wanted to coach here. There's still a number of viable candidates out there with Nolan and Richard etc.

LOL at people being fine with "bounty hunter" Gregg Williams coming to the organization but being up in arms about Kareem Hunt.

Gregg Williams

Kris Richard

Chuck Pagano

I think Ryan would be too much although this group has swagger and might respond to that.

Gregg Williams looks like he's headed to the Jets with Gase. Dallas trying to do everything to keep Kris Richards per Rod Marinelli. Also, apparently Kris Richards is a candidate for the Miami HC job
