The problem is, offenses will exploit the weakest link. And the Bears have some glaring holes. And secondary isn't one of them. At least they have the league's most impressive collection of 2nd string corners. So, they will get the best of that bunch worst case scenario.

Secondary is actually my biggest worry. I did not like a single thing I saw out of eddie Jackson last year.

I can only hope its a down year for him. If it's not, we are fucked.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I worry about secondary. I just think there's a lot of other things to worry about. For example, a 31 year old starting inside linebacker that seemingly finds himself 1.5 yards behind tight ends crossing the deep middle. A 30 year old pass rushing specialist who had 2 sacks last year. A backup linebacker named Christian Jones that no one can tell if he is an inside linebacker or outside linebacker because he doesn't fit a 3-4 scheme.

It's a leaky boat.

Eddie Jackson was way out of position last year. He was playing walk up safety at times which is the complete opposite of his strengths. I feel pretty good about him if the Bears can stop the run with base D.

Indeed. The entire season is dependent on the play of Eddie Jackson. I hope Nagy told him that.

Posters really underestimate the loss of Goldman last year. The NT in a 3-4 scheme is the rock of your run defense. You can't successfully play a 3-4 without a real NT, and that is what we were trying to do last season by sliding Nichols inside after Goldman opted out.

Nichols slides inside on passing downs only, but he is not a natural NT, rather a DE. He played out of position all last year. Hence the Bears drafting Tonga this year, to provide a little depth for our 2 down NT position, because they know how much that hurt us last season.

If Goldman makes or breaks your D, your D is already broke.
Respectfully, said from the guy who rallied that our OL was the cause of our offensive worries. You can't say it all starts up front but only on one side.

And how did we go from "underestimate the loss of Goldman" to "make or break".

Whoah, whoah, whoah.

I will not accept any Goldman bashing.
No bashing. I think he's damn good. But not to the point where him returning gets them back to top 5. Hicks, Mack and Quinn looked to suffer from injury. Add in no Goldman and thats just a recipe for disaster. But unless the edge rushers start playing like it, that secondary that everyone is worried about is going to be slaughtered.

I get a little sensitive when it comes to boy Eddie Money.

My apologies.

Biggest concern is DC Sean Desai. Other than being some sort of defensive coach for football powerhouse Temple for 4 years in the mid 2000's, he has had nothing to do with actually coaching defense and has been little more than a pencil pusher and and film guy until 2019 when the Bears promoted him to, not even DB coach, but Safeties coach. Two season later he is the Bears DC.

Hope they catch lightening in the bottle with him but he went from a 30k-50k peon job to DC in 2 years all while coaching a position with the Bears where EJ went from PB'er to shit under his watch.

I doubt you will find a weaker resume for an NFL DC. His hiring was more about no qualified candidate wanting to jump on the Nagy shit train to torpedo their career path than Desai's acumen.

His position was basically that of a glorified PFF volunteer.

Contemporary coaches are always searching for an edge over their opponents. Now that the Computer Age is upon us, the analyzing has become more technical. Many of those coaches have assistants called the "Quality Control Coach." However, the QCC doesn't really do much coaching at all. They spend all day multitasking, breaking down film up to five weeks in advance and analyzing data.

The Bears are an assembly line of NFL head coaches hired from the outside to fail upward and you're worried about Desai? And to refresh your memory, EJ went to the probowl on his watch. IMHO, Desai was hired internally because the organization is in survival mode and they have to pick qualified people both coaches and players. Seems like they saw a qualified person in Desai and hired him.

The old way of doing business just wasn't cutting it anymore.

Imagine what they're feeling now that Mitch is gone. That feeling of hopelessness is out the window

Then again when the defense is NASTY this season he will certainly pretend like he never caped for Pagano and was just trolling, just like he has with Mitch now that Mitch is gone and a backup and will never see the field unless injuries in front of him, despite the fact he literally put CASH on Mitchell being LEAGUE MVP just a year ago lmfaooooo
I think @truthbedamned is Chuck Pagano IRL, so I am a little torn here, because you guys are kind of bullying Chuck Pagano, and if TBD is Chuck then you're also bullying TBD.

I think at best, they will still play the worst they did last season. But I'm expecting a lot of fail from that side.
