There are reports out there teams could offer him 15M a year. If LAA or RS fail to sign CC or Werth, look for them to possibly offer Dunn a good contract.
I fail to see how it is not feasible. Dunn isn't going to be making 20 million. He'll be making about 13.
Then Z has to be moved.. Along with a big % of his salary going with it..
Which will be a pretty hard task considering his committing to not waiving the NTC..
---
They'll move Fuky.. and replace the space left by his contract with a few stopgaps..
That's really all I see happening this offseason player-wise.
Why do they have to move Z to have Dunn on the team?
I think they'll move Fukudome and Silva with Dunn + RHRP coming in.
How many of waldo' "sources" have turned out to be right? I can't think of any. But I do think Quade gets the call.
What are you talking about? Sources? I have none.
Carlos Lee rumor, this (in the other thread), MLB adding wild cards...
They don't have to move Z...I think just Kosuke to afford Dunn but that will be the big signing, with a minor signing. I don't expect Silva to be on the team like you said. I see him being release in the Winter or ST...or he will be traded for a PTBNL, who will never reach the majors. Then, the Cubs will have to pay 3.5-4M of the 5.5M if he was to be traded.
Someone please quote me.....
So we're gonna have to pay 6-8 million more to Dunn factoring in a Fuky trade..
Then arbitration/contracts to Soto, Marmol, Marshall..
Pretty sure Dunn isn't likely.. There are more factors that are involved.
Just how much do you think Soto, Marms, Marshall, and Gorzo are going to get in Arby?
Well.. Soto had a good year for a catcher.. Marmol set a K record.. Marshall was damn good.. Gorzo was pretty decent..
It's not going to be very cheap.

I'll take a guess:
Soto: 3.75M
Marmol: 5.2M
Marshall: 2.5M
Gorzo: 1.6M
Others:
Hill: 1.2M (could be non-tender)
Baker: 1.4M (Could be traded or non-tender)
Guzman: 900K (could be non-tender)
This is just a wild guess for the hell of it.
Soto has been injured two years in a row and didn't have that good of counting stats. Marmol walks like 6/9. Marshall is just a reliever and this is really Gorzo's first good year. It's a new way street. Soto will get about 3 million, Marms 4 or 5, Marshall 2, and Gorzo 1.5. That's only like 10-12 millionish. That would put the payroll at 120 million.
Those may be slightly high.. It illustrates the point fairly well though.
I'd be just fine with the "others" being moved out..
I also forgot what they made this year so I did overprice numbers. They have 105M on the books for next year already. There payroll was 144M this year. How much lower does Rickett want to go? That's the question. The max for all arb raises could be 15M. Then that goes to 120M (max). I say they will have anywhere from 12-15M too spend this offseason with no trades (e.g. Kosuke and save half of contract, Silva, etc....).
So....I say a lower tier 1B FA signing will happen (LaRoche, Martinez, etc) and one RP (Wood, Soriano, etc). I think a 1B and a RP signing can happen like that with Kosuke being traded and saving half his contract.
