Lincecum is still getting K's (9.5 K/9) but he's walking a shit ton. Wonder if that's something Coop could fix? And he does have a BABIP of .327, so that's probably not helping either.

timmys stock is at his low. if there is a time to get him it would be now.

That's what makes this a good move, potentially.

But doesn't he get, like, 20MM a year in arbitration or something?

EDIT: 18MM in 2012, 20MM in 2012.

That's what makes this a not so great move.

You get rid of Rios' giant ass deal, but take in Lincecums.

So he's just unlucky. Maybe being in Chicago will help him change his luck.

Lincecum's deal is shorter though. After 2013 he's gone. Rios would be here till 2015.

True. The only problem that I see in this trade is replacing Rios' offensive production.

If the Sox can get Youk and Lincecum I'm not worried.

Well, it'll help, but its only .027 points higher than the average BABIP. But, the defense here is pretty good so it could drop to below average, which helps too.

Well, yeah, but there's others out there that can match Rios' average production at probably 1/3 of the price.

Very true, but that's still unlucky.

White Sox BABIP this year is .269

So it's like a .050 point swing.

Also: No White Sox pitcher even has a .300 or above BABIP.

Any trade for another starter better have Kenny shipping out Floyd.

Why?

If the Sox do get a starter the rotation would become: Peavy, [blank pitcher], Danks, Floyd, Sale/Humber.

And that's a pretty damn good rotation in my opinion. Especially if it's Lincecum.

lol @ serious.

if floyd is our 5th starter, we are in good good shape.

Exactly. He's just looking at one game when Floyd was bad and saying he's shit.

He is very inconsistent, yes. But he also has good games and that's all you ask from a bottom guy. To have a good game every once and awhile.

i get pissed at floyd a lot in "the moment" but as a whole he is a 4th starter and could soon be a 5th if we get a pitcher. thats a strong staff. if he was our ace than i would be pissed. but to trade him away because of a couple of games is stupid unless it nets you something in a package

That's the thing. You don't expect a great game out of your 5 guy every game or expect him to ever have a downright dominant game. And Floyd can do that. If our 5 starter loses a game every couple starts, that's okay. Not saying its okay to lose.

I'd just rather see the 5 guy get a loss than the 1 guy.

Lincecum for Rios would be cool with me. Tough to part with Rios because he's been so good this year, but pitching is a major need now and in the playoffs (if they make it).
