I enjoyed the movie, but I wouldn't say it was life changing or amazing. It basically served the purpose of setting up the new trilogy and kept us with a lot of unanswered questions and different plot possibilities.

I really thought that with it was going to be all disney'ed out but it felt like an actual Star Wars movie.

I do have a gripe that contains a spoiler:

why was Rey suddenly so strong with the force and many Jedi tricks, yet it took Luke almost 3 fucking movies to learn half that shit and her 20 minutes. My guess is she's Luke's daughter and that he put her in hiding after her cousin destroyed the Jedi temple (where she had some training but maybe forgot idk), and had that old guy from the beginning with the map keep an eye on her from a far (basically her Kenobi)

And while it was heavily implied she is related to Luke, I feel like that could just be a trick up JJ's sleeve on the whole thing.

I was basically a bit put off by the fact Kylo, an apparent Sith Knight with unfinished training, was able to stop a fucking blaster shot mid-air but lost to a seemingly untrained Jedi. Like, dafuq. The midichlorian must be strong as **** within Rey or some shit.

Yeah that was one of the things I was referring to that made it cheesy and melodramatic.

The scene mind controling the Stormtrooper was somewhat defensible (that was James Bond playing the ST by the war) but then Kylo Ren has her beat and basically says he can train her in the Force and suddenly him saying that makes her all badass as if she hadn't known before she had the force. Like holy shit you just mind controlled someone and summoned Skywalker's light saber, what the **** did you think you had?

Not to mention Ren basically forgets he can use telekinesis and decides after using it to knock her against a tree basically never uses it again in battle despite being injured. Like hey dude when your shot and bleeding probably a good idea to use your telekinesis. Just a thought.

I won't even get into how emo Ren is. Like what the ****, the main problem with the prequels was how they made DV an emo ***** and instead of making Ren menacing like DV was in the originals they decided to go the emo ***** route again. I was like hurry up and kill Hans Solo as it was so drawn out like a bad soap opera. Luckily there were enough good moments there to make up for it.

Sad but true but shit you can play emo ***** without all the sad eyes and shit. I was hoping against hope that Ren would keep his helmet on the whole movie as that would help temper the emo but the minute dude took off his helmet and I saw his face I knew where we were heading as dude is like the poster child for an emo looking *****. I almost half expected a closeup with a single tear running down his cheek.

Fair enough that's probably why I didn't hate him as much as I did Hayden Christianson as DV. That dude always came off as a guy trying to be emo who couldn't quite pull it off while this dude is at least a bona fide emo looking dude that looks like he belongs on some CW teen show.

I like that the young sith(or what ever) threw tantrums when shit didnt go his way.

By the way the fucking title of this tread has SPOILERS in it, can we drop the damn hidden comments. If some idiot is studid enough to click this thread not expecting spoilers then **** em.

8/10 for me. I loved the feel & dialogue Of this movie. ("So who talks first here?")I loved that there was a lack of stupid characters (Jar jar , ewoks). I didnt mind the similarities to ep4 nor the way she seemed to pick up force abilities quickly( who knows her upbringing until age 5ish) I did like that Finn was a storm trooper that said **** this shit man! tI think my main problem was that I didnt connect with any of the characters and really give afuck about them.

I still think the implication that Rey is Luke's daughter is going to be false as it feels way too "forced" (no pun intended) without even saying it in the movie.

I'm just hoping the 3 side movies they are making at least indulge some information regarding the new trilogy. Like maybe in Rogue One we get some answers to questions we have about the Empire moving away from Clone Troopers and going to brain washed kids, or why they keep building the same fucking type of super weapon that just needs to have someone know their shields down on to destroy.

Yeah that was dumb. Why does damaging one area destroy it? Why don't they instead build a huge weapon on a planet they occupy.

I got the feeling Kylo wasn't all that finished with is training, even before he had the fight at the end. Glad all that made sense to me later in the movie, but for being unfinished in his training, he was trained awful well in some stuff. Seem to recall that even the Jedi Masters had strengths and weaknesses. Could be Ren has some strength in areas that helped her out v. Kylo... >shrugs<

Edit: And there is always crap like Kylo not using his teleken, v. Ren or like Gandalf forgetting he can toss folks around like he did in the White Tower fight, etc...

I don't know but JJ Abrams is upset he didn't sign on for the VIII one. He said the script for it is amazing and wishes he could direct it. That gives me hope that they are going to turn it up a couple of notches.

ND is horrible.
Just saw it last night and here are my initial thoughts:

1) A DEFINITE upgrade over the 3 previous installments; this movie FELT like a SW movie and sounded like a SW movie and, perhaps unfortunately, seemed to directly borrow plot from all the 3 original movies.

2) I thought the acting from the 3 main newcomers was excellent with particular strength coming from whoever the dude who is playing FIN. He was really good during the comedic scenes and seemed to play the part of an unwilling hero quite convincingly.

3) The two older characters probably shouldn't have been inserted in there IMO. Harrison Ford was aight at times, but Leia's insertion was a misstep.

4) I actually likes the casting of Kilo-Ren (sp?)....I like he isn't handsome or dashing, I like that he looks a bit EMO and I like the very predictable apex of the movie bc it allows us the viewers to hate him as deeply as Vader before his rehabilitation. He had his opportunity at redemption ala Vader and he chose quite clearly to side with the Dark side....

5) I wish they had cut one or two fight/action sequences and developed some of the relationships a bit more. Why is FIN and the X wing pilot (?) hugging at the end....because they knew each other for 14 mins once? Why is Carrie Fisher stroking the female leads face at the end? They didn't develop that at all.....

6) John Williams, wow, just wow. What a talent we have in John Williams.....guy just can't miss...pure genius.

Those are my thoughts, but overall it was a worthy effort assuming things go up from here.

Oh, and I was disappointed to hear Abrams isn't signed for the next movie; he did an amazing job imho directing. Writing, meh....maybe not so much.

Rey is kylo rens sister.. maybe

Yeah in the books and comics Hans Solo has a son and daughter. Although I am actually hoping Rey has some connection to Snoke rather than the Skywalkers and Solos. It would be far more interesting IMO if Rey was suppose to be the successor to the Darksidea but when Ben Solo switched sides so did she and she had her memory wiped and was hidden away to keep her away from Snoke.

He was pretty interested in her which one assumes is because she is a force user but it could also be because he is connected to her somehow.

It also seems like Snoke is Darth Plagueis who was Palpatine'a Master and said to have learned the secrets of immortality before he was killed by his apprentice ie Palpatine.
