I thought the cliff hanger(s) were weak. We're not even sure on who is alive.
Uh, I think it's pretty obvious who's alive. IMHO

Yeah, I thought the movie was pretty good up until that point. I mean it took a lucky ass move for Obi wan to take down Darth maul, and he had way more training. Anakin couldn't beat dooku until he was an actual Jedi, nor could he defeat obi wan. Luke couldn't beat Darth vader. But this ***** closes her eyes, feels the force, and whoops the shit out of ren. Ren was the biggest pussy of a bad ass ever.

I think it was just how she was able to beat him. I think Kylo let his emotions get the better of him rather than using that passion to fuel his dark side abilities is what caused him to falter, but Rey just sorta closing her eyes and then being able to kick his butt didn't make as much sense.Kylo's training wasn't complete either, though. All of those other people you mentioned (Darth, Dooku, etc.) were far, far more advanced than Kylo. So perhaps that makes it a little less surprising that she was able to defeat him in that battle.
I suppose, but real life logic tells you he is alive (ie he's a main character and he's signed on for the next movie).
You think he died? Which part? Where he was staring at rey after the earth split apart, or the part where the evil commander told general hux to go pick him up?
Well I mean, Kylo was also still clearly alive when the ground split and Snoke tells someone to go get him so :And I hear that, it doesn't mean that it was a lousy slip tho
Except everything up until that point made him an ultimate bad ass. The guy is force stopping laser blaster bolts in mid air with little effort. Even fin got a saber hit on ren. Honestly, completely ruined the movie for me. I was fine watching a newer hope until that final act. It was complete garbage.Kylo's training wasn't complete either, though. Used "properly" is likely more accurate. Pretty sure anyone can turn on a lightsaber and swing it around. The lightsaber is built up to be able to only be used by Jedi.
Furthermore, what was that stormtrooper's metal extension on his arm that allows it not to be sliced thru like butter by a light saber? That was inconsistent.

Snoke is either plagueis or Palpatine imo.

So they are picking and choosing what they want from outside of the movies. Sad for me. But it does explain it. Thanks cloneUsed "properly" is likely more accurate. Pretty sure anyone can turn on a lightsaber and swing it around.
As for the stormtrooper thing, in the expanded universe at least there's this stuff called cortosis which is a lightsaber resistant material. I'm guessing his arm blade thing was made of something akin to that. It's not unheard of in the Star Wars universe, but you have to go outside the movies to see it.
Yeah it probably wouldn't make sense unless you knew about it already which can be confusing. Plus I'm not sure how much of those comics/books they retained as canon. However I think it's reasonable to assume that they'd retain things like lightsaber resistant materials, but not characters and stories as much.So they are picking and choosing what they want from outside of the movies. Sad for me. But it does explain it. Thanks clone
Yeah Palpatine is another option as he does use clones to come back in the books. I prefer it to be Plagueis just for the simple fact that I think Palpatine's arc already had a fitting conclusion to it and I would like to see some more Sith.
It was a poorly executed fight scene. Ren knocks Rey out but then doesn't bother to use his abilities at all for the reminder of the fight. The only legit out is the fact that Ren was blasted by the Chewie's crossbow which was shown earlier one shot killing people and Ren kept hitting the wound to show he was in pain. However, that scene would have worked better if Ren had taken a direct shot to the chest rather than just the side and if Ren or Snoke or somebody made it clear that it took all of his force abilities to simply remain standing or upright much less fight. I suppose it's implied but it should have been made more explicit.
I think the bigger problem is they never explained in the slightest Rey's Force prowess whatsoever, and for someone to do what Rey was doing up until this point in the SW universe, it took a good amount of training. They basically used lazy writing of, "let's go finish his training" afterward, and they're probably going to use lazy writing again in regards to Rey to explain away that inconsistency of her defeating him, quite frankly, fairly easily. I mean, I know he was hurt, but he had no problem flinging her into a tree prior, and used no force push in the fight. They honestly should've had her being defeated and the splitting planet saving her, not him.
Nah they'd still sell 100 trillion Rey figures regardlessYeah, that probably would have been a better ending. But that might have effected Disney selling 1000 billion Rey figures over the next two years.

Betting dollars to donuts Rey was a survivor of the Skywalker academy massacre. Explains the fast-track force learning and the sabre flashbacks. Cue the MIB neuralizer and zap.
Book it.
