Was the wait due to the backlog?
In part, yes.
I started a mortgage application in March with my bank and they fucked it up and pissed me off.
At one point they told me "It took us too long to process your application, so it was rejected."
So I ended that process and started fresh with SoFi, which worked better and moved faster until I was assigned someone whom doesn't seem to do their job.
It was weird, days would go by and I would reach out asking for updates or asking if there were items I could put together, and I would receive zero response.
At one point neither of the two people assigned to my loan replied to any of my e-mails for over a week, so I e-mailed their general loan help mailbox and 24 hours later I suddenly had a task pop up to pay for my appraisal so it could be scheduled.
The communication I received then came off like they were blaming me for not paying for or scheduling my appraisal, when they needed to advance the process so I could do so.
Last week I e-mailed their CEO mailbox... I had to be a fucking Karen for a minute, and I got actual escalation... the boss of one of the two assigned to my loan gave me a call.
Since then it has been moving along steadily... today they asked for more idiot underwriting bullshit... a letter to explain why my residence is so far from the company HQ in Tennessee.
At one point they asked me to write them a signed letter explaining hard inquiry on my credit from that original mortgage application.
At another point I was asked "Explain phone ending in ####"... had to write them a letter saying "That's my cell phone."
At another point I was asked for a letter "Explain <insert residence address>"... had to write a letter saying "That's literally the house I am refinancing."
Tomorrow I expect an e-mail asking me to explain "The Sun."
I have a credit score over 800 and I make enough money I could probably afford two mortgages, but underwriters need to understand "WHY U NOT LIVE WHERE UR JOB PLACE IS?!?!
