There is a local brewery called the Lazy Hiker. I thought of checking it out, but last time Bigfoot drank a wife and 3 kids appeared.

Yes lots of yeast on the bottom, lots of banana-clove notes in the finish. As it should be.

I hadn't noticed this thread before. I'm a huge beer nerd so will throw in my 2 cents.

There are some pretty good places on the South Side:

Eighteenth Street brewery in Hammond - kind of a Three Floyds wanna-be in a good way. Good beer and food.

350 Brewing in Tinley Park - nice selection of beers and again good food.

Hailstorm Brewing - good selection of beers. Interesting friendly vibe when I was there, with the usual "bros" but lots of locals as well. no food but they have food trucks some times.

Flossmoor Station in, er, Flossmoor. Decent beers, very good food. Good place to take the wife.

Non- South Side:

Haymarket - solid, haven't been disappointed here although tap selection varies. Food good but menu not very interesting.

Revolution - now that you can buy their beers in stores I don't see much reason to go to the brewpub unless they have something special on tap. Too many bros and hipsters when I've been there.

Goose Island - like the Fulton Street and Clybourn locations.

Pipeworks - no taproom - I like their barrel aged stuff - Straight Jacket about as good a barleywine as it gets. Also Ninja vs Unicorn.

Hailstorm is great and I just visited haymarket. Pretty decent beer.

If you guys ever venture out to new Lenox, arrowhead brewery is really good.

I'm not a big revolution guy or laguintas. Laguintas is too damn earthy and piney with their flavor.

had one of the "classics" tonight: firestone noon whistle cozmo. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it was good.

I will tack on Horse Thief Hollow on the southside of Chicago.... it is right near the border with Oak Lawn or Evergreen Park.

They brew some solid beers and make some really good BBQ IMO.

If you have not tried them, you should.
