dan hayes is super negative about us getting him. he is really the closest we have to the sox as an insider. but who knows.

He's too negative. Like maybe we have a really good shot and the sox are downplaying it because tanaka wants this quiet and close to the vest.

This seems all PR for the cubs. I don't see Tanaka wanting any part of the Cubs. We're not all that better but 2 years ago we almost won the division. So there's that. Maybe I'm a homer but I think we sign him.

I doubt Tanaka goes for the $$$. I think in this day and age, except for Cano, it seems more players tend to be willing to take less to go to winners (or attempted) than to take an overpay to go to the Royals.

I get that part. timing of the cubs and convention seems sketchy. they could be doing this so there isnt a crazy outcry at the convention since all they have done this offseason is obtain clark
