We are not getting the number 1 pick unless Cutler goes down for the year. The offense is too good at moving the ball and keeping the defense off the field. And on top of that, the defense is improving every week under Fangio. They made the mistake of taking the gas off the pedal after the Cutler interception. Not sure if it was pure prevent, but the defense was different.

Our 3 losses are vs 3 of the best teams in the whole NFL. Half the teams in the NFL would be 0-3 at that point.

I still see 7-9 and a 10-12 pick in the draft.

I probably should put Pittsburgh on our level as well with Big Ben out but since it is not season ending, I will leave it be.

Our schedule is still pretty difficult until the final few games. KC and Detroit are going to be tough to win on the road. I still don't believe Detroit, Philly, or Miami are worse than the Bears, despite the record. They still have a better roster. I picked 5-11 before the season started, and I'll stick to it.

But do they have proven talent, or hype?

Based on how bad some of these other teams are playing and the fact that the Bears seem to be improving the Bears will probably not going to be picking 1.

Your list is pretty homerish.

The Bears may be one of the least talented teams in the NFL, but they are significantly better coached than some of these other teams.

Miami, Tampa, SF for example have hopeless coaches.

I'd say Washington is definitely worse than us, while Baltimore, San Diego and Philly are all better than us. I'd put Miami, Houston and Oakland on our level as well.

I don't understand how people are still so high on Philly. They SUCK. Bradford is not a good QB. They have a head coach that thinks he is still in college. Their defense sucks too.

I think Philly is hands down the worst team in recent memory.

If anyone caught any of the Browns or Jags games, they illustrate perfectly why you should always, ALWAYS, try to win games and not even think about tanking or having mixed feelings about wins as a fan. Those two organisations are now so used to losing that even when they get in great positions, they expect to screw it up. The Browns get caught offsides on a missed FG, the Jags miss a 40-something to win. Losing is contagious.

I'm not as optimistic as the OP but if Cutler stays healthy, we should pick up between 4 and 6 games along the way. I'm expecting a similar record and similar position in the draft to last year to be honest. The only way that changes is if Forte, Bennett or Cutler especially get injured or traded. The drop off form Cutler to Clausen is enormous. Ditto Bennett to Miller and, however high you are on Langford and co, Forte to our other backs. If they stay on the team and healthy, then there are at least eight teams that are worse...

The perennial **** ups
Browns
Jags
Bucs

The future **** ups
Texans
49ers
Saints

Teams that might be **** ups or might improve to mediocrity
Bears
Lions
Redskins
Eagles
Raiders
Miami
Ravens (should be fine)

Everyone else will definitely finish ahead of us.

Jags
49ers
Browns
Tampa

Those are the only 3 teams I feel comfortable are worse than the Bears.

This is our first win in the past 8 games. We're 1-3.

What I'm trying to say is, we still suck, so slow your roll
