Ok...I'm not a math genius...so if i'm wrong, someone will for sure point it out.

But if 95 points is some pre-determined magic number that you must get to make the playoffs...and they have 45...they would need 50pts to get that or 25 wins in 40gms.

Now if I take 25...and divide it by 40 (number of games left)...that gives a .625%

So going 25-15...10 games over would give them 95 points, isn't .700...its' closer to .600 hockey - .625 to be exact.

****!!!!

You're right. I thought they only had 40 points.

Still tough, but not as tough.

The only shoe ins for the Playoffs IMO are San Jose/Vancouver/Detroit just because they have shown the most consistency thus far AND have a track record of keeping that consistency... unlike Dallas. After that it's a crap shoot.

95 points is hardly a number pulled out of someone's ass. Points required to make the playoffs in the West, since 2004-2005 lockout.

95

91

91

96

95

I'd say 95 is probably a pretty good estimate.

I guess at that point where were the teams 42 games into the season. In each season? What pace were they on? Statistics are a funny and crazy thing. Probably the hardest College course their is, or one of them.

You have so many variables from season to season I don't play the "what if game". If you or puck jim chose to more the merrier. I will look at it as we are 2pts out of the playoffs.

When and if they are eliminated in APRIL I'll touch base then.

Oh and Pat Foley and Eddie "No Check" suck. I think I'll put that in my new signature.....

San Jose has not shown that this year thats for sure.

Vancouver and Detroit and of those two Vancouver is on fire.

They lost 10 in a row last year and made it to the quarter finals.

2009-10........2010-11 Pker's TOI per gm -

Keith - 2:58...3:06

Sbrok - 2:53...3:02

Sopel - 2:20...Soupy - 1:33/Boynton 1:12 (More Campbell since his return)

Hjmsn - 2:09...2:17

(Campbell was next, played total of 42min all of 2009 on pk, so really just these 4. For the most part, I don't think Campbell has been as bad as the other 3 on the PK, surprisingly)

Maddn - 2:38...1:57 (Pisani)

Bolld - 1:53...2:16

Toews - 1:32...2:10

Brwer - 1:27...0:29

Frser - 1:26...1:26 (Dowell)

Hossa - 1:26...2:04

Sharp - 1:06...1:27

Vrstg - 0:58...Kopecky 0:44....Johnson 1:23

I dont know why Brouwer has lost 1min in PK time, I actually think he's pretty good there. Maybe they need to break up the "pairings" of Toews/Hossa - the 2 best defensive forwards, regardless that they're dangerous offensively and worry about killing the penalty more.

Bolland/Hossa

Toews/Brouwer

Dowell/Sharp (or Johnson)

Per Eklund's site...

For the past several years there have been two Penguins teams. Or actually should I say two gears we have seen the Penguins play? One before January 1, and one after. The Penguins have always started slow and then turned it up...almost pacing themselves exactly right for the playoffs...

In 2006-07 on January 1st they were 16-15-6 (38 points) 14th in Conference

they ended 47-24-11 (105 point) 5th in the conference.

In 2007-08 on January 1st they were 21-16-2 (44 points) 4th in Conference

they ended 47-28-8 (102 point) 2nd in the conference.

In 2008-09 on January 1st they were 19-15-4 (42 points) 7th in Conference

they ended 45-28-9 (99 point) 4th in the conference.

In 2009-10 on January 1st they were 26-14-1 (53 points) 4th in Conference

they ended 47-28-7 (101 point) 4th in the conference.

Maybe Toews needs to start being a dickhead like the Penguins' captain is.

Well I'm pretty sure his play at the end of the game, causing the EN goal and sealing the fate, is not doing either.

To be fair, that was a really nice play to knock that puck out of midair... One hand on his stick, fully extended, picking it out of the air? Not many guys are going to break up that pass. Saucer passes across like that are made constantly on the PP. We were just unlucky our Special person coach decided to pull the goalie.

That move baffled the hell out of me. I'm starting to think Q is insane or . . . something. I mean, give the top PP unit at least a minute to try to score before pulling Corey. I didn't understand that move at all.

I agree. Keep brouwer there. But it's Q, and Stahlberg 'could' have three goals in the last three games. Skunked.

If Brouwer isn't on the top line, i prefer him with Bolland and Bickell. That line was starting to click for a while, and was broken up. Put Pisani on the 4th line.

Kanes injury is the type that will linger for months. Sitting him will not heal it any faster. AKA Crosby skated with it when he returned the rest of the season. Just the way high ankle sprains are. And with Kane on a line with Bolland and Pisani I'm not sure what the two idiots in the booth expect from him.

Morin is a forward so he better not play D. Although with Coach "MIX A LINE OUT OF HIS ASS" who knows, maybe Morin will be put back on D.

LOL

Wow...why the hell was I thinking Morin was D? okay, I'm dumb.

Anyhow, I still think something has to be done about Keith. Everyone else from the Stanley Cup Squad we had are about 50-50 in good game and bad games--or better. Keith has had maybe 3-4 this entire year--and right now you can't say it's it ice time since he's not geting the 30mins/game like before Campbell came back.

I agree about both counts. That line was clicking but Mr. pull a line out of his ass decided to mix them up. Partially I think that was when JT was hurt but why he didn't put them back is a mystery.

I'd like to see Brouwer/Bolland/Skille, personally. I think that line could be pretty damn effective. Will never happen though.

Q is wierd. I've been told nothing others suggest to him is ever tried. I was also told that the Hossa-Toews-Sharp last year in the finals was Bowmans call. Scotty.

So who knows. I do know his line combinations last night, with a 100% full line up, SUCKED! And cost us the game.

RK, are you getting any indication at all that the players have had it with Q? They don't really seem to be responding the way they used to, and with all the benchings and absurd line-juggling, I can't help but wonder whether they're starting to get tired of it.

I really can't say. I have a feeling on the subject but it would violate some confidentiality I have with friendships.

I can tell you one thing. I would fucking HATE to play for him with his constant line juggling. It is impossible to play consistent hockey when you don't have consistent linemates. Look around the NHL and tell me how many of the teams on top, are juggling lines like Q juggles them. None.
