The tough guy/enforcer role has been dead in the NHL for a few years now. Some teams just haven't figured it out yet. Look around the league, and, typically, the teams that waste roster spots on tough guys, are watching hockey from home come playoff time. Your fourth liners have to be able to play hockey, because the good teams, have fourth liners that can smoke guys like Scott all night long.

I wasn't trying to rail you but the first dumb ass question the reporter asked Turco last night was about the "soft" goal he gave up. Really? Twice the same guy asked both Turco and Hossa about the "soft" goal. Seriously?

Just got back from reading the Blows officials. Cannot believe they are complaining about the officiating. Stating that the Halak penalty for holding the stick was unfounded.



They have nothing to complain about, their team should have been short handed the whole game.

Nick Boynton leads the league in blocked shots (20 - Tied w/ Montador) even after missing game one due to suspension. Duncan Keith is 2nd with 19.



Bolland and Keith are tied for 1st in the NHL in Takeaways, but Keith leads the league in Giveaways. Keith also leads the league in missed shots with 15.

Your first mistake is reading the dumb fucks on that board. I do believe the Halak penalty was a make up call for the punch to Kopecky's face. Don't get me wrong Halak most DEFINITELY grabbed Sharp on the way by with his trapper, but the punch to the face was far more blatant.



Blues fans in general are fucking morons. There are a few bright ones but all you need to do is look to their PP Dance to see how really AHL they are.

Great game to be at. Nerve recking last part of the first and all of second. God did the blues have the Hawks blue print our what. I'm tired of bitching about the refs because in all honesty, they don't view this forum so why waste your time, they are going to call it they way they want. I went to the game knowing it was going to be close and it was and expect it for another 5 games. Hossa, he looks like a gladiator out there. He is single handedly carrying this team right now. I also though Cully played a good game. I was telling Ton during the game that they need to stop shooting from the perimeter and start crashing the net. The results were great in the third. Keith and Seebs...I don't know if they are still recovering from the post cup sindrome or what. but some of the turnovers that keith is making in our zone is not acceptable with a player of his caliber, so to goes for seebs but not as bad. Could be the time they are getting on the ice, lack of Campbell, or no sex I don't know. But its every game, and is scearing me.

I have always had a problem with the "soft" goal anyway. It went in, does it matter how?



Like with Huet... I wouldnt have cared about the goals he let in or how they went if the rest of his performance was that of Turco's. Let in 2 crappy 5 hole weak goals? And that is it? Well, Goalie did his job in my book.



Mistakes are made and even THAT soft goal was more of a misread then just incompetence. I think to judge a goalie on what kind of goals are let in, unless there is a correctable pattern, is not the right way to judge. Did Turco keep his team in it with stellar play? You bet your ass he did...and that is the job.

QFT. The 19,000 refs calling the game from the stands have no power on who sits in the box.

There were blatant missed calls on both sides--I caught a Blues player being high sticked by the penalty box behind the play. Not sure if that was his own stick or one of the Hawks, but it was a stick to the chops, and play resumed. That wasn't the only call, but the one that deserved attention. I don't have the luxury of the replay today, so if anyone else caught that, or anything else-- discuss.

Our calls outweigh theirs here, and their calls outweigh ours on their boards. Pretty simple concept.

Haven't read all nine pages but just wanted to comment on Cullimore setting the wheels in motion for the game winner. Real nice play by the guy and he was smart enough to give the puck to Kane when he ran out of options.

The dumb feed the dumb. The WGN postgame is what I usually listen to on the way back to Wayne and Garth land. The dial usually clicks when the callers are allowed their voice.

I was just trying to see if they saw the same game that I did. Maybe I am fucked up and not catching stuff since I am so far into my gallon of Kool-Aid, that i am just blind.



However, I understand the make up call...but damn...the Halak was the least contact made penalty of the night.



Hossa's knee, Toews head into the ice, and Kopecky with sticks in the face could have been far more serious.

Good, I have to say I want to see Cullimore succeed. As has been mentioned ad nauseam the game completely left him behind after the lockout and he wasn't put in the best position his first go around here. I mean imagine showing up for work and finding out you can no longer do what you were good at? Two years ago when he didn't receive an NHL offer it probably would have been real easy to hang them up but the guy swallowed his pride and signed on to a Rockford tryout. It must have been humbling but from all accounts he was a good soldier down there and has found his way back to the big time.



Who knows how long it will last but if Cullimore somehow ends up playing the year with the Hawks there's your Masterton nominee, and he would fit the requirements to a T.

IMO, some of the early differences I see in Turco and Huet..



Turco has been a proven number 1 in his career and isnt trying to "prove" he belongs (confidence?)

He's mentally tougher - in the sense that I dont see what may be a "soft" goal rattling him

The team still plays confident in front of him, where they seemed to play very tentative in front of Huet

He makes big saves in times where the team needs to be bailed out (much like Habby did)
