Well the Pens also have 2 likely Art Ross trophy candidates year in year out.

And nothing in D like the Hawks, assuming the Hawks D is playing like they could.

Not to mention at least Two Con Smyth candidates......

Plus three forwards more than capable of finishing in the top Ten in scoring in the league.

This is just a general statement, not directed at you but I'll feel a helluva lot better once assumptions and capabilities start producing wins.

The East is also a cakewalk compared to the trench warefare that is the West.

However this would be an opportune moment to remind ourselves this could all be happening sans Cup. Doesn't make it easier to swallow but it could sure be worse.

The 'Cup helps, but it's lost it's "New Stanley Cup" smell.

I just want them to make the playoffs.

It would be a horrid embarrassment if they were to miss.

It'll never lose it for me. If anything whats going on is a reminder of just how special that team was.

Agreed. I just want them to have a chance to defend it.

Agreed - but I think making the 8th spot in the playoffs will be akin to the 2007-2008 team that missed it by 3 points. We'll scratch and paw our way to get in and may do it but it will be a fight. To show you how offbase I was early in the season, I was thinking we could still win the division and if possible take one of the top 3 spots in the conference. Right now we're 4th in the division and I'm hoping we just get in. Although the 8th seed will have to face Detroit in Round 1 and that will be a tough one.

Exactly. Not sure about you but I didn't have a bad time at the game last night. Did I like the outcome, no. DO I remember many many worse years even to this point, **** yea.

I expected some problems and knowing that now 12 of the SC team is out of the line up or gone. ****.

I'll continue to go because Hockey is my thing. Great hanging out with you guys last night pre game. I wouldn't give that shit up for anything. **** the whiners.

The Salary Cap and 4 mil penalty made that questionable from the start. "They" or most of them are not here to "defend" it. They are playing on other teams.

Besides it's no fun anymore. You know all the years we lost 45 games were really fun and all.

I always had a good time either way. That's why I go.

So as not to be a total pessimist some positives from last night's debachle:

-Cullimore played well. Again.

-Skille is actually starting to create space for himself. I really like him coming down the left wing.

-Bickell now has 8 goals. 8!

It'll be interesting to see if they raise ticket prices on us again after this season.

Bickells goal and move last night were HOSSA/Havlat like!

With a waiting list in place? It's a guarantee.

I bet we get next year's invoice even earlier this season.

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of. But what if they don't make the playoffs? Think they'd still raise them?

That's why the invoice will come early: To make sure the money is in hand before they get eliminated.

The game was enjoyable for me up until the point they made up the penalty against us.

I'm pretty sure the year the Pens won the Cup they were 20-21-8 and still made the playoffs.

Ding!

Just gotta get in.
