And here I hoped it wouldn't be a sweep. Better luck next time, but I fear the worst for our team. Cup hangover can just about explain this bad season, but if next season goes similarly, it might be that Bowman and Coach Q aren't that good. It's too bad about Haviland most likely going, he seems like a cool guy and liked by the players. Not at all impressed by Kitchen.

Please tell me that this team isn't a one and done team?

My biggest fear is that the Hawks lose Havi to another team. I think Kitchen is absolutely Special person, and I think Q is massively overrated. I also have my doubts about Stan finding the right guys to bring in to fix this mess. Campoli was a good pickup, so I do still have a little bit of hope. Stalberg, Frolik, Pisani, Scott, Taffe, Johnson, Boynton, Cullimore? **** me. Have ANY of the guys Stan brought in over the offseason and this season impressed you guys? I can't say they have.

Yah don't want to see Havi leave either. Love skinny Mike. The rumbles have reached a few media outlets that Tallon will go after him in the off season. That's speculation stuff though. Internal relations probably say otherwise.

I don't recall seeing Taffe play so I reserve judgement there until I do. None of the other guys impressed me one bit. Frolik would have had he any hands to finish as I was never to down on other aspects of his game (well obviously he doesn't play physical but never expected that from him). He has that hockey sense and ability to put himself in the right spot...no finish...just no finish. Johnson grew on me for what he was. I would take him as a 4th line center option..god knows anything is better than Dowell.

Scott was entertaining in some games he played. Nothing more than that. If there were bigger room for goons in this game now I would pick Scott as a guy I would want on my team. Since those days are gone and not coming back? Wont be hard to see him go.

Failberg..was a failure. Speaks for itself.

Pisani was a nice thought...never worked. Sucks that the guy has freaking Krones disease. Explains a lot about his play. But he has to go and try again.

There are highlites to this season. Crawford was a nice surprise. Knew he was NHL ready but didn't think he would post the numbers that he did.

Maybe a tad bit early to say and probably took too late in the season to find out..but Smith might be a great prospect moving forward.

Campoli fit like a glove. Too bad we hadn't nabbed him earlier in the season. Think our regular season record had been better had he been on the club earlier.

And yes Leddy. I think this time he spent up this year will do him some great moving forward.

Oh, and after the Sharp goal, the Hawks should have had another 4 minutes or so of PP time, so thanks a lot NHL officials!

very true, I was shocked on that and was foley. I mean they want to stop head shots why was that only two and not a major like Konroy mentioned. this prick just served a suspension on a play just like that. Ya think they would eject his ass after that play. 2 min penalty was a crock of shit. But overall 7 pp and only two goals to come out with is hard to swallow. And some of the lines Q put out in the PP were down right head scratchers.

Personally I think Haviland will take off to Florida. I would not be suprised if Beach was traded there.

I heard tonight they asked him to be here and he refused. Wants to play for Tallon I guess.

Haviland going would be a huge blow to this team. Especially with Kitchen, who completely sucks ass, left.

Where was our Norris winning defenseman at on that goal? Yes, Leddy misplayed it, but Keith completely screwed the pooch. Crawford had the shooter, and with where Leddy was, the Canuck player had nowhere to go. Keith HAS to have the guy in front of the net in that situation. He just fucking has to. There's no excuse. We had FOUR Hawks in the zone on that goal, and only TWO Canucks attacking. They scored on a fucking 2 on 4 man, and it was almost entirely because of Keith having his head up his ass.

Of course Leddy has problems behind the goal line. He just turned 20! How many defensemen have the skills and size at that age to be world beaters? Leddy has a bright future. It's idiotic to shit on him, given how our VETERAN defensemen have played. Campbell handles those situations even WORSE, and he's been in the fucking league forever. The goal in game two at the end of the period was directly a result of Campbell being completely and utterly hopeless along the wall against an opposing forward. His inability to step into a forward and break up the cycle has killed us since he got here.

And the 1st goal in game two was partially a result of Leddy being asleep in front of his net. Keith has sucked. So has Campbell. But Leddy completely misplayed that.

Pez, you post on the 300 Level. Go over there and give the Leddy love and see what happens. The problem is there are too many like sized dmen with the exception of Seabrook that just can't get the job done on a consistent basis.

Yeah, I think Dale will want him there for sure. Dale was GM when Havi joined the organization, correct??

Yes. Another great question Rosh brought up in the Prospect thread.

Haviland, like Yawney are great "KID" coaches. They are awesome at developing talent. Peters, Kitchen, not so much.

There was a reason Colorado was going to make Haviland an offer BEFORE the Hawks brought him from Rockford, to Chicago.

Overall I have faith next year we should come out flying, A we have been rested B I still think Bowman SR. calls the shots on who to get. I love that! I can see us back on top. As far as this year goes, If we lose out then, I would love to see Tampa win it, or the Canadians.

Honestly, I'm surprised Haviland didn't get a job before this season. I figured after being part of the Cup winning coaching staff, and being such an instrumental part in developing the young talent that propelled the team to such heights, that he'd be gone.

He was offered a job in Colorado. To keep him here in the organization they promoted him to the Hawks from Rockford. If I were him, I'd take the HEAD COACHING job somewhere else. And what a better place than Florida who has a shit load of prospects, about 4000 picks in the upcoming draft, and a GM that knows how to build a team.

I'd already be packing my bags to South Florida.

I agree with everything you said, he's a great coach and I think he'll have a great future in the NHL. I'm hoping that this is a pivotal year for the career of Stan Bowman. I say hoping because I know he's one of McD and Rocky's "guys." But IMO he needs to really show he knows how to build a winning team around the core that they have. If he can't do it next year, I'd honestly prefer him to be gone and the Hawks try and find someone who understands. Unfortunately, they had a GM that did, but we all know how that went...

if Havi leaves, the question is who would the hawks target to fill his spot?, and would other coachs lick ther chops to get a chance here.

Hopefully not one of Q's buddies again. That worked out well the first time.....

Leddy is a rookie with a handful of NHL games under his belt. He was playing high school hockey two years ago for ****'s sake. I expect mistakes from him. Trial by fire. What I don't expect, is for guys like Campbell and Keith to be making the same mistakes Leddy is making.... Especially when they're soaking up nearly 13 million dollars a season between them.

I'm completely with you about too many of the same type of defensemen on this team. It's why moving Campbell is the #1 priority. At least Campoli plays SLIGHTLY physical, and he brings pretty much the same offensive game Campbell brings. We desperately need some nasty on the back end. We need a couple big, mean defensemen, that can kill penalties, and play ~15 minutes a night. We also need a few forwards built from the same cloth. I just don't know if 'lil Bowman realizes it.

On the topic of the 300 level, I take pretty much everything said over there with a grain of salt. I mean, they seriously think trading Seabrook is a good idea.... Come on.

Fixed.

I still say this team won the Cup in spite of Q being the head coach. They had that much talent in them.

Does't mean with few tweaks here and there they can't get back to that next season.

remember most of those guys played all the way to the WCF's the year before they won the Cup. They had consistency because they played together for TWO full seasons.

This years team not so much. 11 new guys. I think PMX would probably disagree with me but there was a reason Q never won the Cup with the Blues and some of those Blues teams were STACKED with talent.

Honestly I don't have an answer. I just know that the 3rd and 4th lines need more gritty skilled players and this team needs at least ONE if not TWO good, proven Centers. The depth and Center is horrible. You'll never win a Cup with Frolik Centering your 2nd line. Hell you might not win a playoff series....

I'm not a fan of the type of player I've seen Stan targeting thus far in his tenure as GM. I'm hoping he'll bring in the right guys next season for the third and fourth lines, but my gut tells me he's clueless.

Right. That contract with the same actual salary as the cap hit. With a No Movement Clause.

Put the crack pipe down.

Lol, they should just try winning a game first!

So, off topic, but did Lou just stare you down during warmups tonight? Or did he say something back to you??
