9 games. He was still coming off the groin in prospect camp.

Like Book said he was a projected top 10 pick. The injury and lack of production-development had him fall to 47. This could be one of the best Hawk drafts in a long time.

Mcneil will be a 2nd line Center/NHL. Saad looks very good and Didomenico also looked very good or with good potential.

Oh, it most definitely is going to be (barring injuries since I'm no Miss Cleo obviously, heh). It's gonna be on like Donkey Kong some day!

Knew Saad was a steal on the morning of Draft Day 2 and couldn't believe he fell to the Hawks. McNeill will become a stud. And Danault, that motherfucker is so energetic and dogged that I have decided to nickname him "Tenacious D". I completely and utterly understand now why every scout said he's relentless in his attitude and work ethic and why he is always made Captain of his various teams. Clendenning also shone this summer before he had to go back to the NCAA---great Prospects Camp and great showing at the Team USA Evaluation Camp.

Man your feisty tonight! YOU GO!

Can't send him to the minors. It's either here, or back to Jr's. Which is where the 9 games or less come in. Still think I'd keep Stalberg first. Experience, and he's due for a better year. He has the tools, needed the finish last year.

Now if the Hawks could find a team with a 2nd line Center, and Stalberg was part of the deal with another "rockford" depth player, Saad could end up with top 6 minutes.

Either way in two weeks this team is already going to be fun to watch and scary good.

D'oh! I know that, I meant the Jrs. I know it's either Saginaw or NHL for Saad because of the age requirement just like it would have been for McNeill if he'd absolutely torn it up all summer.

Good for Stan IMO. He's making it "his" team now. I'm pretty impressed with him as a GM so far.

Saad looks ready now. I don't see how he doesn't get his 9 games. I love how deep the prospect depth is. I'd hate to be Stan making these decisions about who makes the team. Some moves coming? NHL players for picks/prospects to make room?

Has Danny Richmond ever won an NHL fight? I respect him for playing the game he loves and having grit and heart, but man being an NHL punching bag for a living must suck.

Saad with 3 points tonight? That Saad-Toews-Stalberg line looked good.

Liked Olsen's physical play too

As I said before.... Anything to get Stalberg to actually earn his paycheck makes me a happy camper. Q may want to consider that.

Stu, that's not even the fucking point. Saad projects to be a skilled 1st or 2nd liner. A year ago he was Top 10 Draft chatter material. Stalberg for the Hawks is a 4th maybe sometimes plug for the 3rd---higher glimpses if they're beset with Forward injuries. I would want to fucking bitchslap someone in the Hawks organization if they burn the 1st year off of Saad's ELC so that he can be a fucking replacement for Stalberg who is slated for the FOURTH LINE. If they're thinking in terms of Saad playing on at least the 2nd with Hossa then that at least makes more sense. Saad's development time would be wasted on the 4th line here IMO. Good grief, if the overwhelming opinion of Stalberg is that he's just 4th line material than WTF is the problem exactly? Barring injury he's likely gonna get say 25 pts. for the season and pretty much costs a pittance---if 4th liners had marvelously consistent touch and finish and scored 30 - 50 pts. with the mins they get they wouldn't be fucking 4th liners. That's the point.

stalberg sucks dick and got 2 fake goals who cares

Again I have no clue how Saad didn't get picked in the first round, but how the hell did he get all the way to us at 43. I thought for sure he was going back to Saginaw by the end of the weekend cause I figured they just wanted to let him play in Pittsburgh, but I honestly don't think there's any way they can send him back until the end of camp. He keeps this pace up I see no reason why we shouldn't give him those 9 games, who knows maybe he surprises us again. Remember there were a large number of people who thought Kane would only get his 9 games before going back to London, well we all know how he played that year. Worst thing that happens is he gets sent back to the O with some really good experience, and a shit ton of confidece

He already earns a 4th liner salary. See, if Q starts getting "ideas" about mis-slotting him then I don't want to hear the endless fucking whinging from fans about how he doesn't finish on every single goddamn scoring chance, how he has no hands, blah blah blah. Put him higher if it's necessary because of injuries or only if he consistently shows enough improvement on the 4th to warrant more mins higher up. What exactly is a 22-26 ish pts 4th liner suppose to earn in your opinion? Because when I look at comparable Forward pts. for last season with comparable GP for Stalberg's 24 pts. in 76 GP for $850K I see:

Matt Hendricks - 25 pts - 77 GP - $850K

Sean Avery - 24 pts - 76 GP - $4 mil

Tim Jackman - 23 pts - 82 GP - $550K

Brandon Yip - 22 pts - 71 GP - $700K

Vernon Fiddler - 22 pts - 71 GP - $1.1 mil

Mikael Backlund - 25 pts - 73 GP - $787K

Ryan Jones - 25 pts - 81 GP - $975K

Jason Chimera - 26 pts - 81 GP - $975K

John Madden - 25 pts - 76 GP - $1 mil

Daniel Winnik - 26 pts - 80 GP - $900K

. . .and so on, and so on.

There are anomalies like Avery but otherwise I fail to see how Stalberg's salary is not comparable with the points scored in the amount of GP with comparable Forwards for last season. He seemed/seems to be falling exactly where he should. Thus, I have no problems with him being slotted for the 4th line this season and taking home $825K if he once again gets 22-26 pts.

You did. Enough to point out the fucking obvious of "Saad > Stalberg". No shit Sherlock when you're talking about apples to oranges.

Stalberg's 2g...was 1 off of Avery's full season last year.

If Stalberg sucks dick, then Avery gives blumpkins to the entire NHL

If you don't know what that is, google it.

Well, His teammates, coaching staff, and organization disagree with you. And at 700k knowing how well of a locker room guy the 7th/scratched most of the time D man is, I do too.

You continually miss my point Ron...I'm saying a waste of ROSTER space, not cap space. I don't care how much or how little he makes. And the teammates' view is myopic at best when it comes to Scott. My bet is you'll see him in Rockford more than Chicago this year....

Scott is not a wasted roster spot. If he is going to be scratched most of the time on a 23 man roster, who spot is he really taking up? You don't want one of the kids taking his spot in the sky box, you want the kids getting playing time in the minors.

Now if the Hawks were only icing a 20 man roster and were up against the cap, then I would agree with you on saying he is a wasted roster spot!

I don't miss your point. I totally disagree it's a waste of a Roster Spot. If anything you are clearly missing my point.

Anyone notice Q change up the lines in the 3rd. That line of Saad-Toews-Stalberg ate the Caps top line alive. They owned the 3rd period. Impressive move. Shows how juggling sometimes can completely change a game.

Stu, Stalberg has had a pretty good camp. His MO is not finishing. Which he's still pretty young. If he can over come the finishing part, he will be a steal.

Saad looks like he can make the team, if it weren't already packed. The kid should have an amazing season with the Spirit. Good to see how much youth depth we have. Morin, Beach, Saad, Pirri, McNeill etc. The future looks bright

Olesz-Toews-Kane

Brunette-Sharp-Hossa

Bickell-Bolland-Frolik

Carcillo-Stalberg-Myers/Scott

Seabrook-Keith

Mondator-Hjalmarsson

Leddy-Lepisto/O'Donnell

Crawford

Emery

The Indianhead is back in contention!
