Dead on with that as well. What makes this lineup frustrating is Dunn. I like him more as a 6/7 then a 3. I don't care what he's hitting power wise, he should have more then basically a 2.3 rbi per homer rate with the lineup that the Sox have.

I think he's fine as the 3 guys because who are you gonna put there? Rios? That's not exactly a good spot for him. Like Rios as 5.

Beckham would've hit .270 in the 2 hole because pitchers had to be careful with Dunn up next. And Beckham had more confidence. In the 9 hole there's no confidence, no drive, and he doesn't see the same type of pitches.

Out of curiousity, which starter on the team do you think is a worse hitter then Beckham?

Ehh. Once a week or every other week is fine. Rest might do Beckham well. But it's not like Hudson is going to be any better than Beckham. It's just a case of fans wanting anything but what they have.

not for me. i dont want him playing every single game. players need days off.

Did I ever say there was a starter worse at hitting than Beckham?

Nope, never did, but you did say that Beckham isn't a 9th place hitter.... so I don't follow the logic of saying he isn't a 9th hitter when he is the worst hitter on the team.

I'd rather him hit 7th or 8th just because he would probably play better there. If he was 7th or 8th I think he'd be as good as if not better than Ramirez.

Ahhh, I gotcha... it's a matter of potential. I guess I personally believe that in any spot besides the 9th spot, you could find a better hitter then Beckham. Sure, hitting 2, 7 or 8 would make Beckham look better, but it would make anyone else on the team look better as well, IMO.

his numbers show this year he was better in the 2 hole. allbeit sample size though. love beckhams glove.

as far as brett wanting dunn hitting lower in the order, he is talking out of his chocolate starfish

Sure, the numbers show that but almost every 7/8/9 hitter is going to hit better in the 2 spot.

kinda hard to raise the "2.3 RBI rate" per hr to mid 3s and 4 because he would set records for grandslams. as far as RBIs are concerned which to me only show what the guys in front of him are doing but anyway....he ranks 4th in RBIs. Let me guess you want him being number 1 in RBIs.

Hudson isn't a starter.. but I'll drop the Beckham hate. Just don't like him :)

there are fans that dont like him and thats ok with me. I just dont like when people use BA for everything and no other stats or like another user here who bitches non stop in multiple threads about beckham. he is what he is. awesome defender...avg to below avg with the bat.

Okay, I WILL actually stop talking about Beckham after this... IMO - Beckham is the worst hitter on the team, in whatever batting statistic you want to look at, not just BA. His defense is awesome and we have no replacement on the team, so I'm not saying to get a different player.. he is what he is. But he is definitly a below average bat - IMO :)

Not sure if you are serious here or not. So instead of replying I'll wait for your reply on clarification. But I wasn;t talking about how many RBI's he gets per homer hit. I'm talking about the number of RBI's he has divided by the total number of homers hit. Those two are not the same thing.

And he is not doing it at a great clip given his place in the order, total chances, etc. The easy way to see that quickly though not always accurately is rbi per homer.

Two different hitting coaches, same results at the plate. Nothing has changed.

He isn't the long term answer at 2nd that most thought when we drafted him.
