The Batting Average isn't the main idea with Dunn for me. Its HRs, RBIs, and BBs. He was brought to hit HRs knock in runs and get on base. Dunn is the least of our worries.

Actually he's one of the biggest and here's why.

Take away his awfulness at the plate (ops). Take that away. The guy is a DH on a team that cannot afford to have a full time DH. That means we can't get the rest for guys when needed because we have Dunn in the lineup. And we are in that position aain next year.

There is no way I want him back on the team once this contract is done outside of a hot dog vendor.

Well we dont have any run producers on this team. We need Dunn. Where would we be without his 60 RBIs?

Dunn is the least of our worries? :andruw:

The amount of excuses this guy gets is amazing.

So you are saynig no Dunn, those 60 rbi's just disappear??? Come on now.

More than likely a majority do. Yes. Who else picks up the slack?

LOL at people bitching about the lack of Dunns doubles. IF DUNN ONLY HAD 10 MORE DOUBLES TO GET TO HIS CAREER AVERAGE ALL WOULD BE WELL!

Adam Dunn was brought to Chicago to beat the shit out of the baseball into the seats and get on base. Aside from his first season he's been doing the HR part. He's failed with the on base stuff but he lead the AL in walks last year so it hasn't been a total bust.

Dunn isn't pretty but when I look at the Sox lineup I see much bigger issues like Flowers, Konerko, Viciedo, Ramirez, and Keppinger

Dunn has pretty much done all the White Sox have asked so far. If Konerko wasn't finally showing his age, Viciedo and Ramirez weren't disappointing, and there was some offense from the catcher position it wouldn't be a problem.

Other than Gillaspie, Beckham as of late, and Rios the entire White Sox offense sucks. It's not like Dunn is the only one striking out or not getting on base.

Exactly why I said Dunn is the least of our problems right now. Konerko showing age. Viciedo, Ramirez, Kepp, Flowers all sucking.

He was brought in to do a heck of a lot more. Not saying you, but anyone who thinks it was to just hit homers really needs to check his or herself.

Dunn 6'6" 285 lbs. Base running and fielding prowess are pretty much out the window. His numbers aren't what they used to be but he is, occasionally, smashing the piss out it. Not with men on base though, that sucks.
Sorry to say, I wish Ozzie was still here

Ya I miss Ozzie lol. Dunn does a decent job fielding that I've seen. And ya his base running isnt his forte due to his size. Im not excusing Dunn for his performance because '11 was the worst I've seen in a long time. But he's at least hit HRs the past 2 seasons. Ya he hasnt been a great run producer but he's provided HRs and gotten on base with walks. Like I've said im not saying he's worth his contract, but at least he's provided offense which has been severely lacking this year.

Actually he hasn't. His Avg, OB%, SLG% all career lows each and every year. But don't let the Dunn lovers allow you to believe it.

Any time a player does not perform it's a problem.

No one said he was, but this is a Dunn thread.

Dunn right now is in contention with worst Free Agent signing by the White Sox ever. Navarro still has the title probably.

Sorry but the White Sox didn't sign him to hit for average. OBP is a reasonable beef to have with him. He hasn't drawn walks this year or in 2011 like I would've hoped. But last year he lead the AL in walks. The White Sox signed Dunn because they struggled to have a consistent DH with power after Thome left. Dunn was a well-known HR hitter and that's why they signed him. To smash the **** out of baseballs.

Ok so Dunn not hitting is a problem. But Konerko not hitting is a much bigger problem.

Konerko is probably done, but again, this is a thread on Dunn not Konerko.

Dunn is owner of tow or three of the top five worst home run seasons of 40 or more including the top spot from last year. They got him for a heck of a lot more than 35-40 hits (albeit homers) a season.

Even in the year he led in walks, his ob% was one of his career worst. What's that say? Same with slg%

That's like holding 2 or 3 of the worst 1,500 yard rushing seasons in the NFL. If you're the worst of some of the best that's still pretty damn good and productive. Dunn hasn't been tremendous but he's been productive. Even last year he had an OPS of .800 and an OPS+ of 113. So he was above average.

This season after a bad start to the year over the last month and a half he's been hitting nearly .300 and has an OPS of well over .900

The fact this fan base is talking about Dunn being an issue when looking up and down the rest of the lineup is mind boggling.
