Uh... he isn't anything special. He is getting time on the first line. His forechecking and defense has A LOT left to be desired. His vision and puck control are below average.

Plug Kruger, Smith, Carcillo, Burnette, or any other scrub on that line and they'd have some points too.

Stalberg isn't anything special.

Right, because the rest of those guys had their crack at the top line and didn't get the job done up there.

His fore checking has been outstanding, his speed and size to cause pressure in the offensive zone has created many turnovers which lead to his points. He set Bickell up on a play by coming in stripping the puck and centering it to Bickell for the goal. he has done it with Toews as well.

I'll agree with the puck control, because he skates faster then he can handle the puck. I'd rather him skate in and put that pressure on the fore check, then get the puck to Kane for all the puck handling.

I don't care if he's special... he's playing good hockey lately.

The thing that none of these guys understand is that this is all we are saying...nobody is calling him the next Gretzky, he is a solid hockey player playing good hockey

They all had their playing time up their with the exception of Kruger not playing with Toews because they are both centers. Brunette was the opening night LW, Smith got some time when he was called up during a game or 2. Carcillo was fine with Kane and Hossa.

It's sad when people can't admit they are wrong and enjoy a player playing well...on the team they "supposedly" root for.

Hell, I hope I am dead wrong on Beach, Kruger, Smith, and whoever else I don't think is going to live up to their potential at anytime.

Stalberg is filling a role on this team and is doing very well. Get over it.

Well what do you expect? If you cultivate an area that is personality driven, at the expense of content -you get ludicrous bull allegedly in "arguing a point" which seems to me to only be thinly veiled pretextual bs for continuing to engage in ongoing flamewars -that take on an operatic scope ... they not only transcend threads, presumably sections (although I pretty much have limited my over 1200 posts to this folder), and even messageboards.

My point being, I know as an area moderator, that you don't control what a person says - but, in all fairness, encouraging that by posting stuff that promotes the personalities over the topic - in my experience, then this is what you get: ongoing, personality driven material, where actual topicality takes either a backseat or is completely eliminated.

The bigger question is -- is this what is wanted?

Quenneville (a coach with 600 wins) thinks that he is special. He purposely put Stalberg on the third line to get the line going. That's saying good things about Stalberg.

I'm man enough to admit that I was wrong about him.

Smith didn't get any time on the top line when he was up. Morin did. Smith never did.

Smith did get time with Toews, we were losing and couldn't score and Smith was used.

It was the Edmonton game, he had 15 minutes of Ice time

Oh. The first time he was up. Yeah, that was bad. The second time he came up, he was much better and then was sent down. I think he works better as a bottom 6 guy. Maybe try him on the third line for awhile?

I prefer him to stay in Rockford, find an offensive game, then when he's ready to anchor the 3rd line with Bolland i'm all for it

I'd say to keep him in Rockford until Bickell falters or Stalberg needs to leave the third line or something.

From what I've heard he's been doing really well in Rockford. I feel like he has that scoring touch to be a top liner, but also has the skill set to be bottom 6. It's like he's average at both top and bottom. Not specifically good at either one.
