Yes, yes.

Ukranian and Polish women are very nice.

Then again, I'm not very picky.

Slovakian. Marion Hossa and Tomas Kopecky for example hail from Slovakia.

This may just be my fiancée, but she HATES being called a "Slovakian". "Slovak" is what they'd like to be called. Same with the language...

I made that mistake once...

...once.
<

And I agree. Slovak women are gorgeous.

Both. Although hair-dying is common over there, so you can't be sure.

I know my fiancee had blonde hair as a toddler which turned medium brown though her teenage and adult years. She has a friend who has dark brown hair. Yet another freind has hair that's the color of Hossa's. Still, another friend's is near-black.

About the only uncommon natural color I've seen there is the type of red hair you'd see on someone irish.

My mom is 100% slovak and has strawberry blonde hair/blue eyes(hair was actually completely Irishman red when she was younger like photos Ive seen of her in her teens and such, maybe gramma was up to some extra ciricular activity with the local Mc drunk). My Grandfather on that side had black hair/brown eyes, and my grandmother had the same brown hair and green eyes I have.

My mom doesn't have this trait but both my grandmother and grandfather had/have dark complexion's as well.

My genetic makeup is half slovak a quarter polish and a quarter everything in fucking europe (my grandfather on my biological fathers side was 100% polish, my grandmother on the otherhand, her family had been in this country for a long ass time and she had a very anglo name, but when she listed off what she was to me when I was a kid she may as well have said western europe)

Me I am Samoan, Polish, Czechoslovakian, Welsh, French, Austrian, and perhaps Russian.

I should probably do a little sleuthing and find out the exact Czech part. Perhaps I am more a Slovak. I get that part from the Spacek side. That was my Mom's mom. I was told I am related to Sissy Spacek, and also then Rip Torn, as Rip is Sissy's cousin.I am sure if I asked my Pops he would know. He traced our family tree back to I believe the 5th or 6th century. I am also related to Charlemagne.

I'm Germany, Norwegian and Welsh. My last name is Haak and there was a King Haakon of Norway. I wonder if the name was shortened on Ellis back in the day or something. I mean a doubt it but I certainly wonder.

I don't really feel connected to any of those, 'cept the Samoan. In Samoa, I would be considered petite.

It is kinda interesting to see where you came from, and what traits you have from each place.

You have 4 lineages then to trace it to: Bohemian, Moravian, Silesian, and Slovak.

I know my g/f is fullblood Slovak.

As for myself, I'm mostly Neapolitan, with some Sicilian, and the rest mutt. Which is kinda funny since the pics from Miška's master's graduation ceremony have all of her friends saying that I look like a mafioso.

It doesn't - he said her name was Miska and I thought it sounded nice. Thought it might be Chinese so I asked. Nothing wrong with that.

No offense Fluffle, actually maybe a little, but when you said you didn't know what a slovak was and we have slovak players on the hawks, it really calls your level of intelligence and knowledge of the world into question.

Thats like saying whats a Philipino? Um maybe someone from the Phillipines?

Maybe its just me, but I think everyone should have an idea of most of the countries in the world and where they are located.

Usually the leading cook on any Naval Vessel, and the shortest, meanest son-of-a-***** you ever met...sorry, that was wrong, but anyone grew up in or around the navy will laugh

Jako: Well...you said Czechoslovak, so I encluded the 3 Czech lineages there. Slovak is separate.

Plus, Jaroslav Spacek (another ex hawk) is Czech

And TSD, don't worry, I took no offense from Fuffle. I don't mean this as an insult to most but it's amazing how ignorant (not necessarily stupid), that americans can be. Many of the older people I know, like those of the Cold War generation, have a tendency to just see every place that was behind the iron curtain as "Russia", or have a hard time keeping themselves updated on the current geopolitical makeup. Hell, There are more people than I care to count who still refer to it as "Czechoslovakia" as an existing political entity despite the fact that Czechoslovakia hasn't existed in 17 years! Further, there are those that still think that region is Communist (it's been a democracy for over 20 years), that the country is poor (it's not--it's on par with many other EU nations), or other aspects perpetuated by the media which are wholly untrue.

I personally would feel remiss if I didn't try to correct all of that.

Kerfuffle: Miška is a short version of Michaela. The "š" is pronounced like "sh" in english. I do think it's a nice name as well.

You have to give the older generations a break though when it comes to remembering new names of countries and each countries politcal stance....the eastern european and adriatic regions have been very fluid in the renaming of countires and regions for 30 years now.
