The Cubs were serious bidders on Gonzo and were kinda intrigued with the Cubs spects. The one thing that hurted the Cubs was the Padres GM and another person knew the RS farm system good.

The Sox were also serious.

Hendry overpays for one hit wonders
Bradley (1 good year in texas and now he gets a boatload of money GEEZ!)
Fukudome ( Since he was good in japan that means he will be good in the MLB right! Wrong look at Matt murton!)

Soriano (Not a 1 hit wonder but too much money for a 30 yr old)

He's not as bad as you make him out to be. Who would you rather have?

Bradley was just the best player in the AL... you can't blame him for that.

Fukudome came from Japan and has been pretty good for us, really. He's foreign, so you have to expect that you're going to overpay. It's always the case.

As for Soriano... that's is the Trib's fault. Not Hendry's.

He's not bad? WTF are you smoking?

Based on what? The Trib making him add another 2 years on the deal? Based on giving the best hitter in the AL a $10 MM/year contract? Based on giving the best starter in our rotation 18 MM/year? Hmm?

JH trades have been pretty good, but not so much FA signings.

FA was just too much $ thanks to Trib.

What has he accomplished?

He signed DeRosa to a great deal, Byrd to a great deal, Lilly to a great deal, he developed Castro and we have a really strong farm system coming up in the next few years. He traded for Ramirez and gave up basically nothing. He traded for Lee, which was also a great move, he traded for Harden, which was another really good move, and he managed to get rid of Theriot for something of value.
