I'm sick of my gym. It's gotten way too busy and I'm tired of packing a bag every day. I'm going back to working out at home again. I always had better and more consistent workouts when I did it at home anyway.

I wouldn't mind working out at home...but I would end up spending a bunch of money to get everything I wanted. I should total it all up sometime and see what the break even is in terms of gym membership months.

Guys, going to the gym to workout is tertiary -- the reason I go five days a week is to scope all the fly honeys in yoga pants and volleyball shorts.

Priorities, gentlemen. Priorities.

Lol.

You think I'm kidding? Dude, my 8 miles on the treadmill is circumvented on imagining all the fart boxes that need tongue-punching on the row in front of me. There's this unbearably hot Lebanese girl that always seems to do straight-leg deadlifts right in front of me. Her ass seriously looks like she shoplifted two hams and shoved them down the back of her yoga pants. And her thighs..... omfg her thighs got me all like --

I do everything with dumbbells. Three pairs of weights, light (35s), medium (65s) and heavy (100s). Just these 6 bells and an adjustable bench and I can do everything I need.

What about your back? DB rows?

Yep, bent over rows, and rows on the bench with different angles to hit different parts of the back. Wider pull for the lats, narrower for the rhomboids (these hit the rear delts too), incline for the upper back and shrugs with the 100s for traps.

Speaking of dumbells....anyone ever used this (or something like it)?

http://www.powerblock.com/#&panel1-1

or

http://www.weiderfitness.com/fitness/en/WeiderFitness/Free-Weights/weider-100-lb-speedweight

Bowflex makes a pair too, but I've heard the build quality is kind of shitty.

You are talking me into being able to get a pretty good workout in at home. I'd just like to have more incremental options with the weight....but don't want to buy 10-100 x2 at 5 pound steps :)

Yeah I was considering them too but the ones I was looking at at Dick's were almost a grand. Crazy expensive. If I could find them cheaper I'd definitely be interested in picking them up (both metaphorically and literally).

Dumbbells are the shit imo, overhead extensions, concentration curls, even pullovers. Only time I even touch a barbell is for squats, and even those I'll occasionally use dumbbells for...on an upside-down Bosu ball.

Those are nasty.

Yep, they're the free-est of free weights, since you have to control and stablize them in all directions. You're not going to get any popcorn muscles with the dumbbells. They're tops for building functional strength. You get muscles on your muscles.

Dumbbell shrugs, my grip always fatigues prior to traps...have to use lifting straps 4/those.

Well you know you gotta use barbells for increased size and strength on legs and chest though. When I go past 350 on my bench I can't use 150 lb dumbbells on chest...that's crazy!

I usually start my workouts with the big fatties while I have the most strength....bench, squats, pullups, shoulder press because I go heavy and take rest between sets of course. After that first big ass exercise, then it is on to dumbbells for shape and cuts like side laterals, chest fly, etc

Pretty similar to what I do, but don't go that big. Yet.

Edit - also would include deads in that first list.

For sure. Deadlifts are awesome. I just jacked up a disc years back like half of us out there have done to our backs so deadlifts are out for me. I also throw in a set of abs between my heavy sets like hanging leglifts while I'm resting. It's a good way to do abs for sure so that you are not too lazy at the end

Any of you ever take Animal Pak? It's basically a bunch of vitamins in convenient little plastic baggies. I wasn't sure how much they were doing for me until I ran out. Started feeling more fatigued but didn't really connect the dots. Then I got some more and could totally notice a difference within a few days. There may be a cheaper option, but I would probably have to buy a bunch of individual bottles of vitamins to get the same thing.
