Is chocolate milk in this category?

As long as it's not been processed too much. The pasteurization and homogenization processes just totally nukes all of the beneficial properties out of milk, that's why I found a raw milk source. If I ever have a craving for choco milk I just add some Hersheys syrup to it. I don't know about anywhere else in the country but in Colorado you have to buy a "share" of a cow. It's expensive but it's really really good

Seems extreme. Is the taste of raw milk much different than our over-processed whole milk? I think my trust issues would make it harder to find a source I could really . . . trust.

Drink whole milk. Whey better for u. Pardon the pun, but milkfat has natural offsets for the fat content and while milk is better than those protein workout elixurs. Take all this with a grain of salt because i'm one of those guys that think the american view on dietary fat is Special person. Americans consume bad fat, but fat is not bad if you source it properly and you have good genetics for it. cardiologists hate cholesterol but neurologists are like whaaaaa?

Sorry for getting off topic. Google what i said bout whole milk doe.
I stick with Tru Moo 1% low fat chocolate milk; to each his own though. It can be all in my head but drinking lowfat choc milk helps me keep dat dere Marky Mark build and I feel good and no so bloated. Maybe I'll try whole milk next fall/winter

Nope. I've had milk from one farm that smelled like a cow, not like cow shit just a cow, but it tasted fine. You can ask for a sample of the milk if there's one near you. It would also be a good idea to ask how long they've been offering their milk for sale. If they've been selling their milk for a while it should be safe, the fda loves fucking with small raw milk farmers so ANY reason to shut them down will be taken advantage of.

I've mentioned it in a few other threads but eatwild.com has listings of small, super-organic farms across the country. That's where I found my farm and I think a few other members have checked it out for places near them

Very cool. I've been having a very hard time eating pork recently, knowing how smart pigs are and makign myself watch a slaughterhouse video- damn it's tough to watch. I really am trying to feel better and get more involved with local open range type of meat- the shit I've seen with regular meathouses literally made me tear up. No PETA crap, but thinking bout the obesity problems and the fatasses waiting 30 mins in mcdonalds drive thru pisses me off and the little appreciation people have for the food they eat and where it comes from.

Personally, I think it should be mandatory that before you graduate, in health class, you have to watch a slaughterhouse video- a humane one at that- but you should know where your food comes from. I hope they pass a law soon for that, it'd help get rid of obesity real quick.

That is a good idea but I think it should be taken a little further. It should be mandatory that people know where all food comes from and some of the absolute shit that food companies are putting on store shelves

I know a lot of nutritionist that dont think people should drink Cow's milk at all.

Also, the whole slaughterhouse thing? Im not going to say its propaganda, but it is contorted by the person trying to get a message across. Slaughterhouses are very regulated and it isnt just this cesspool. There will be some places that have violations just like in any industry, but it is very much regulated. How you going to make money if you start killing off the consumer?

Another thing, just because a person is heavy doesnt mean they are in line at a McDonalds drive thru everyday. This is another contorted view that people make from an over generalization. There are a million ways for a person to be heavy. Not saying they arent a lot who do sit in the McDonald line everyday. I am just saying its an over generalization.

It's not necessarily about genetics. Unsaturated fat and other EFA's are very healthy for you. In fact, they will help burn body fat and extra cholesterol as energy. A good example is avocados. They are very high in fat but one of the better foods you can eat, and delicious

True. The only thing is all these fatties say avocado is the best fat ever. I took some nutrition classes and I remember that avocado was the MOST fattening food on the planet! A small slice a day is good for you....small. Fatties tell me when they are stuffing their faces with a half or full avocado that it is the best. I just tell them to look down at their belly where the adipose tissue is lol

I thought milk was a form of whey protein if I remember correctly so isn't it almost like protein shakes?

P.S. I do the True Moo choc milk as well along with protein shakes on some days

So what's the deal then? Can't drink whey shakes 'cos kidneys work too hard. Drinking milk is better if it's whole, then not better if it's whole, then better not to drink cow milk at all. Don't eat too much meat because of LDL.

Ok so is there any safe way to get protein at all?

F it, I'm going to try the choc milk thing for a while and see how it goes.

I did the choc milk in my earlier 20's and loved it. I did probably drink to much as I would drink half a gallon after a workout. Bought this new protein, so my wife could use it as well, but the flavor sucks. I will be going back to the choc milk as well again.

Milk is casein protein, yes.

Fat, especially unsaturated fat, is good for you. It's actually very good for you and is actually a necessary macro nutrient. It is essential to the brain to function properly. Saturated fat is a little less good for you but is by no means bad for you. Trans fat is the only one that is bad for you

It was a little weird but the milk tasted better than anything I'd ever had before that so I didn't really care how it smelled.

I don't think there's a food left on the planet that people aren't divided on but the stuff 1COBearsfan is saying rings true to me. Besides chocolate milk tastes so good how can you go wrong? I like strawberry milk too. Anybody have anything good to say about strawberry milk?

Peanut butter, only it is not a complete protein.

I would still recommend muscle milk over cow milk, and the chocolate is good mixed w/water.

Speaking my language with Peanut Butter but muscle milk? If you're looking for something considered safer than whey shakes, that ain't it.

Ah, no can do on the PB. The slightest taste of peanuts or peanut butter makes me wretch.

I eat enough meat really where I probably don't need a huge amount of supplementation. I think I'm going to give the choc milk a shot for a while an see how it works out. It is delicious after all.
