Forget it. I'm not trolling. Anyone that actually works out on there own laughs at crossfit. I get shit on here for talking about gymnast workouts. But if you want to be fit and pay a decent price for a workout, get your ass to a gymnastic center. They have beginner courses and they will whoop your ass into shape and have people who know what the hell they are doing.

Crossfit people couldn't last 2 minutes in a gymnastics routine. Those routines take freaking years and those athletes are the most disciplined and ripped people on the planet! Soo hard...it actually hurts to even watch what they do.

Crazy busy, like I log a 110 hour week at least once, most times, twice a month busy. Also the fact that it is physically intensive which means that if I go too hard in the gym I will suffer in my training, work, and personal life. Ultimately I am going for the jack of all trades, master of none mentality in fitness. I probably could get pretty competitive in distance running if I cared to train for it, but I am not willing to sacrifice strength to do so. I have mostly met my goals at this point and am looking to improve in very small increments or, more realistically, maintain as long as possible before age can catch up with me. If I can keep a <65s 400m, <6:00 mile, <3:30 marathon, 225+ clean, 315+ squat, 400+ deadlift, plus calisthenic ability and maintain the ability to do the weirdness that is my job I will be happy. Those are the basic metrics that I try to maintain.

I'm not sure how old you are, but those are pretty good numbers. I remember when I could run a 52 sec 400 and a mile a tad over 5. Sigh.

****!!! 110 is pretty harsh. I was a track and field man and did cross country as well. As long as your mile is sub 6:00 and 400m around 60 that is great for out of training. You should have a bench press mark. Keep it up.

I have a lot of other benchmarks that I use (bench, press, 5k, 10k, etc), just didn't feel like posting them all from my phone

31. I also remember the days of running 53ish second 400s. Shit, I was one a 4 x 100 relay team that took 3rd in state (albeit at class 1a and as the slowest of the 4) and only ran during meets because I played baseball as well. I'm running a race at the end of this month that includes a 100m, 800m, 1600m, 5k, and 10k all in one day and am interested to see where where my 100m time is at.

I will not be one of those douchebags, I've driven in Boulder enough to despise those guys. Those idiots are also all over Naples, FL. Can't count the number of times I got cut off or saw one run a red light. She has some friends that enter Ride the Rockies every year and has said she would like to as well. We just need better bikes and a little training

I've got a GT mountain bike from Craigslist that I'll be rebuilding over the winter. I've found several things wrong with it since I got it so I'm going all out. Full Shimano XT rebuild and a Fox fork, hopefully found on Craigslist fairly reasonably.

Found a Haro MB on Craig's for $100, nothing wrong w/it except needing a new shifter cable...love that site.

As for Naples, they should have put in separate bike paths off road like they have on Sanibel Island one county north.

From 1978 to 1990 I was a member of a gym called the Chicago Health Club in Schaumburg. For some reason I got a crazy price of $99 per year that was auto renewed at that rate. The gym was freaking awesome best equipped gym in this area. I was in that gym 6 days a week for 2+ hours for $8 month. What a great deal.

Looking back I did it all wrong. Endless sets on a push/pull system to failure and then negative reps. I was sore every day of my life. My arms and chest were massive, but I didn't have functional strength (grip strength, fast twitch, mega endurance, pull ups). I wish there had been something more well rounded like Cross Fit, that would develop true strength everywhere. My strength was pretty one dimensional

We used to get like 1.5 - 2 hrs a day. It was awesome. The field house at Offutt was incredible.

Midday workouts at mil gyms are where it's at. Show up at 730, accomplish way more because everyone else is at the gym and you can work uninterrupted, go to the gym at 1030 when its empty, get back to work at 1130-1200 when everyone is going to lunch, resume getting everything accomplished until 1, 1-4 put out fires, go home.
