Rockford IceHogs captain Martin St. Pierre became the 83rd player in American Hockey League history with 500 career points, reaching the milestone with a first-period assist in the IceHogs' 5-2 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Saturday afternoon.

A 29-year-old native of Embrun, Ont., St. Pierre has averaged better than a point per game over his AHL career, amassing 139 goals and 361 assists in 475 games with the Edmonton Road Runners (2004-05), Norfolk Admirals (2005-07), Rockford IceHogs (2007-08, 2012- ), Providence Bruins (2008-09), Binghamton Senators (2009-10) and Springfield Falcons (2011-12).

St. Pierre has appeared in four AHL All-Star Classics and was an AHL All-Rookie Team selection in 2005-06, a First Team AHL All-Star in 2006-07 and a Second Team All-Star in 2007-08. St. Pierre has finished among the top 10 in overall scoring four times, setting career highs with 27 goals, 72 assists and 99 points for Norfolk in 2006-07.

St. Pierre has also appeared in 38 Calder Cup Playoff games, totaling seven goals and 27 assists for 34 points.

St. Pierre is the second AHL player to reach the 500-point mark this season; Hershey's Jon DiSalvatore recorded his 500th career point on Nov. 25, also against Toronto.

Minor trade

Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have acquired Mathieu Beaudoin in a trade from the Hershey Bears. Additionally, the Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Peter LeBlanc from the IceHogs and traded him to the Washington Capitals for future considerations.

Beaudoin, 28, has posted three goals and seven assists in 32 games with the Bears this season. The Rock Forest, Quebec, native has appeared in 269 career AHL contests with Hershey, Portland, San Antonio, Texas, Houston, Milwaukee, Rochester and Iowa. During that time, Beaudoin has accumulated 59 goals and 88 assists.

Prior to turning pro, Beaudoin skated for four seasons at the Ohio State University, compiling 89 points (52g-37) in 149 games.

LeBlanc, 24, has recorded four goals and eight assists in 34 games with the IceHogs this season. Originally selected in the seventh round (#186 overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Blackhawks, LeBlanc has appeared in 163 regular-season AHL tilts, all with the IceHogs, and tallied 40 goals and 46 assists.

Ryan Stanton is really solid defensively. Guy is so sound with the puck.

One can only hope. They need someone with talent on the second line wing, and I hate to see the third line broken up as well as they have been playing together.
