Rickett's seems to be a smarter man than to keep Hendry around. Any GM in Hendry's position would unload any player he could for a reasonable deal. Certain players could get some decent prospects and the farm system could be loaded up a bit. I was wishing for a bunch of trades to load up on young guys because that is what the Padres are going to want for Gonzalez this up coming off season. This roster could be in so much better position if Hendry would do his job and players would accept the trade. I know Lee is a good guy but come on!

Thanks for the welcomes to the board! Cub fans can be such great people, only thing better than a Cub fan is an Iowa Hawkeye fan. ;) lol

Forget about Gonzalez, the Padres have come out of nowhere, and are now the best team in the NL, they won't trade him.

I won't be as mad if we can't trade Lilly as long as he turns down arbitration so we can get extra draft picks, but it's not sure if he'll be Type A or not.

If Hendry is gonna be here still..

I'm gonna guarantee we get no comp picks via type a, type b.

He never does that.

Yeah, and the sad part is, the Rickett's have full confidence in him...

They won't trade him this year of course. The Padres will not be able to afford him after the 2011 season and will NEED to trade him. That organization can not afford to pay him what he is due, Cubs can if they have enough to trade for him.

Then they keep him for the 2011 season and can ditch him afterward.

Yes they can. But...............if they don't play as well next year as they have this year they will trade him. They also can get more in return for him by trading him than offering him arbitration and having him sign elsewhere. San Diego is not in any place to add to their pay roll, not big spenders and they could easily make him available in the off season.

Padres are interested in outfielders. I doubt they'll take Fukudome's contract, but Nady could be an option.

also hearing Yankees and Dodgers are really the only suitors for Lilly..

Which means trade value is sky high.

Yeah, they are strap with money. They did like Nady and probaby still do. So I can see Nady going to SD.

Those are the 2 really interested. with the Dodgers leading by a good chunk. The Mets and Twins are still interested but not to much and a deal probbaly won't happen.

Yeah there have been but they do have interest still but little. The only reason they don't, is because the price is high. But, if the price drops, they could be up there again. Who knows, if Lilly will even change his mind to waive his NTC to Minn.

I like the sound of getting some Yankees prospects. I don't want Montero though, we have Soto already.

Wow, the Yankees system is stacked with catchers. I wouldn't mind trading for one of them if they could be productive from 1st.
