I have only one untouchable on my team. Chris Sale is not available. I value pitching more
I value pitching too, but I'd rather have a guy who can impact 162 games not just 30+

A stud pitcher > than stud OF
for me at least.
Plus easier to acquire stud OF than stud pitcher

A Starting Pitcher that pitches every 5 days is quite similar to a batter that palys every day really. The pitcher is responsible for such a huger percentage of the game while the batter is responsible for such a small part of the game. When you multiply the percentage of the batter by five, I think the responsisbility is pretty equal

I see your point and I respect it, I just think Trout is on another planet, I mean the guy is a leadoff hitter and put up those kind of numbers...unreal! but I know what your saying

Not sure what is worse, the Sox being too quiet or Gavin Floyd still existing on this team.

Both give me a headache.

A big part of trout's numbers was the men protecting him.

Your welcome to believe that Brett, but there is virtually no empirical evidence to support the idea that protection dramatically increases OBP or SLG of players. Trout is very, very good at baseball at a ridiculously young age.

None that it doesn't

I would gather that there's not a single gm that would take trout over sale. The quality pitcher is taken over the quality hitter by gm s in the draft

I disagree strongly with that statement, but I want to make sure I understand your point too. You are saying that because GMs take pitchers over hitters in the draft, very debatable point, it means that given what we know about Chris Sale and Mike Trout at this point that GMs would prefer to have Sale?

Well the last draft the first three players taken were position players and 18 out of 31 1st rounders were position players. I think GMs value talent, which takes us to the case of Sale vs. Trout. Your contention is that GMs would prefer the older, less years of cost control player, that is coming off a fantastic first season of starting to a 21 year old runner up for the MVP?

I read the links and I think they're missing the point of the game when is the difference of a protected hitter would make a difference the score the game makes a difference. Show me a trout type player on the Astros putting up the same numbers.

The Astros would be a considerably better team with Trout in the lineup. You can continue to believe this if you want, but there is far more evidence to support the idea that good hitters are good hitters.

New game, guess who owns the slash line, the team, their record, and who else was in the offense.

David Wright?

...and for the rest of the offense, not David Wright?

That would be Andrew McCutchen and the awesomeness that was the Pittsburgh Pirates lineup.
