There have been a few posts I have read about Skille sucking. I dont see it. He skates hard, gets pucks deep, finishes checks and is fast as hell. I would argue that last night it was all about his line. They got mad minutes.

For the price, Skille is a bargain. But I guess people can see different things watching the same game.

No goals kinda sums it up for him. He's tied with John Scott when you think about it. Whenever Skille has a breakaway and I take a number and see it's #20 with the puck I don't get excited cause I know he won't score. And his turnovers are really frustrating.

His turnovers are no more frustrating right now than anyone else on the ice.

Skille -1 4pts

Kopeckey -8 9pts

Just saying.

Yeah...no goals for a guy averaging 10min a game - 12th on the team (thats last for the forwards, for the mathmatically challenged)

Yet...

4th on the team in shots - 39

2nd on the team in hits - 37

All 3 of his credited giveaways are extremely frustrating....I know.

Oh...and in his limited minutes - Skille has drawn 4 penalties - which is tied for most on the team.

I'm extremely frustrated by Kerfuffle's plus/minus, er, minus. All those giveaways, zero takeaways.

I just don't get anyone being "frustrated" by Jack Skille. WTF? The guy's a third- or fourth-liner, being paid like a fourth-liner, and his effort this season has been second to none. Sure, it would be great if the guy were to score 20 goals this season but any goal from the line he's on is a huge bonus.

There are a lot of guys to be frustrated with on this team right now but Jack Skille isn't one of them. Sheesh.

For four years now they have tried to groom him to step up and be a top two line player. They've tried him there, they've tried every combination of him every combination of places. He hasn't even been able to be a top player in the AHL consistently. I'm tired of the pay cut argument, He never lived up to what he was making, and is playing exactly as well as he's being paid. 10 minutes a night was never an excepted excuse for other players where were not producing, but somehow it's ok to say he hasn't been given a fair shake because he's only playing 10 a night. Well you know what, it's all he deserves. Woo hoo. he's an energy guy that is hitting players. Great, but he was supposed to be the depth answer that the hawks needed this year, the guy who was supposed to step up and fill the gaps from all the departed players. He was supposed to get his first real shot and be a legitimate NHLer. And he hasn't. He's sunk back to the 4th line, and not for a lack of trying because he seems to be working hard, but it's just not all there. I loved Skille when he first came up. I was hoping he would be something big because he wore #11. But to me it's like he resented this team for not bringing him up to play more when they were bad, and now that they are good, he getting his shot and just isn't taking advantage. The best thing for him is a fresh start, trade him and let him go somewhere where he can start over fresh and check the ego's at the door. I think toting him around last year with the cup like he won something was a horrible thing for him. What do I have to base all this on, nothing, but that's why it's a message board and I'm allowed to post my opinions.

This is the first legitimate shot he's had at the big club. I'm ok giving him more time than 16 games. LOL

Good effort with no results doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I'm not looking for the guy to score 20 either but my god all those breakaways and 2-on-1s, open nets he's had and nothing to show for it. As I've said in other threads before - he's a million moves to nowhere. There's a reason he hasn't been able to break through to the big leagues before and it's pretty obvious out there why. His failure to clear the puck from our own zone has me pulling my hair out. So yes I put Skille right up there with the rest on reasons to be frustrated.

Sorry to disappoint RK but no and I could care less about this rating system you keep referring to. If you want go ahead and set my rating to -100,000. You're a moderator so you can do as you please. Go for it - and then we can hopefully end the conspiracy discussion.

But at least you admit that it's based on nothing!

Really, I understand your frustration with him, given that he was a first-round pick and that he clearly hasn't lived up to it. And if he were like Cam Barker, getting paid a bunch of first-round money to be a 6th d-man, I would be equally frustrated. But looking at Skille right now, he fits well with the Hawks because he's taking in a small salary to be an energy player. Should he have become more than that? Certainly, if you base it on his draft position. But isn't that the fault of the people who drafted him? All you can ask of the player is that he play hard and do the best he can. I think that's what Skille is doing. He plays hard every shift and makes some silly mistakes and doesn't have the greatest shot. Still, because he's paid like a fourth-liner to do that, I'm fine with him. And who knows, maybe he'll eventually live up to his first-round billing given time.

I like Skille. I like his speed. I like his work ethic. I'm hoping he becomes a solid player and is with this club for a long time.

I felt the same way about Ken Yaremchuk, the player that Skille reminds me of.

Lots of show, but (as of yet) no go.

Can't quit on him, though. This is his shot. I hope it works out for him.
