Right. I dont think this team beats the Dolphins if they play their starters for 4 quarters and aren't minimizing their game-plans. Some of these games have starting QBs playing 1-2 series and we're taking the results seriously?
to be fair...does anyone want Dalton playing 4 quarters against starters besides Dalton and Nagy?

You are probably right but when Nagy is playcalling the offense to a couple of field goals in the first half against GB, does it matter that the defense only allows 13 - 17 instead of 28 like the Bills? Not really.
The defense will allow 24 points in average per game.

it has nothing to do with the preseason record....if your team looks like an nfl team and loses a preseason game thats fine.....if it looks like the keystone cops and loses it is a bad look....no one cares about the record

is your team tackling?
does it look like it cares?
are people in the correct spot?

its not the record
In 2010 they could barely make a 1st down. They lost every game. They looked like absolute shit. They won 11 regular season games and went to the NFC Championship game.

Hell, the 1985 Bears were absolute ass in preseason and went 1-3.

It doesn’t mean much. Sorry….

You were responding to @playthrough2001 's bizarre take on a bad preseason when the Bears had a great regular season following it.

I think @iueyedoc is still fighting @Visionman 's bullshit handwaving of preseason in its totality - not just records for him but including every little detail as if nothing matters at all.

Falling right in line with how Nagy WANTS us to see it if you recall his presser.
My point is pre-season performance is rarely indicative of anything. Unless you’re on the bubble, players make business decisions left and right.

Please feel free to draw whatever conclusions you want.

Maybe so. But that’s what preseason is for: to find what works, and what doesn’t. And to find what players can play, and which can’t.

Imagine being a head coach / play caller and not knowing what does and doesn't work going into your 4th year. Desai, yes I agree with your point. Nagy, nope. Offensive genius my ass. He's a fraud.

the 2010 Preseason Bears were all-world compared to what we saw the past couple weeks from the starters

As I recall Cutler threw a 4th down TD and Forte had an 80 yard run during the Raiders preseason game....those two plays alone by the Bears starters have outshined our entire preseason starters this year

So really bad example on your part

Oh give me a break with this bullshit. Anyone who understands the fundamentals of football knows the Bears were lethargic, sloppy, confused, out-muscled, out-hustled, and needed someone to throw the damn towel.

Every phase of the game.

Don't act like it's a "mystery what Nagy was actually choosing to evaluate". It doesn't even fucking matter that we don't know because there was literally nothing good to evaluate at all with the 1's. Period.

Stop conflating the fact that the score is meaningless to the fact that the reps are deeply meaningful.

"Glorified practice"

Uh, ok? So fucking what?

It was a shitty practice. Dreadful. Trashy

AND yet AGAIN Nagy seems like he is clueless on ideas to fix it.

Given his track record of bottom tier offenses the last couple years, stop acting like you alone understand this is preseason and everyone around you is some irrational Chicken Little with ZERO reason to be concerned?? The fuck you say?
If Vision wants to treat it as a glorified practice, let's treat it as a glorified practice.

The first string offense destroyed the 2nd string defense while the first string defense almost completely stopped the second string offense.

To make it simple, the first stringers used the word BILLS to show they were the first stringers while the second stringers used BEARS.

I guess that can make him happier.

I disagree with this 100%. His time in Chicago has proven the exact opposite.
You are wrong.

He would be perfect as the Club Dub coordinator. Shine up his skull to a brilliant shine so the strobe lights could reflect off it.

Perfect!

I was at the game and could not have left more disappointed. I watched the game on DVR and felt better in the sense you could make a lot of excuses for the team’s shortcomings lol.

Defense-

Pathetic tackling - Roquan and Trevathan did not play who we know are cleaning up the patented Mitch short/ sideways throws that netted tons of yards with seemingly missed tackles on all of them. You could say the same for Mitch’s scrambles. Linebackers are pretty important for tackling, particularly when missing an all pro talent in Roquan.

CB2 Vildor has me very concerned, won’t lie.

Offense -

Skill positions: A-Rob, Mooney, Goodwin, Montgomery, Kmet all did not play to my knowledge.

O-line: Elijah Wilkinson got worked, he’s bad. They showed a stat on Borom not allowing a single QB pressure in college last year. Literally, the next 2 consecutive plays he was pushed back into Fields. He has promise but REALLY need a miracle contribution from Jason Peters on the blindside. No James Daniels.

Fields day looks much different if Rodney Adams and that other hack hold onto the ball that were perfectly place.

Fields is the savior, I saw nothing to show me any different. My point is the finished product was not even close to what we watched on Saturday.

Nagy looked so bad on Saturday. It’s a disservice to throw Dalton and Fields in with these bums. I don’t see how anyone can say there was progress. Then, Trubisky shredded. Horrible look.
Of course, it could have been worse.

  1. Your car could have been stolen.
  2. Your woman could have gone all Karen on a Steelers fan.
  3. You could have been forced to watch Nagy's presser.
And those are just off the top of my head.

New players, new wrinkles, new plays. You can’t seriously be this dense.

You act like Nagy knows what he's doing. You must have been a Trubisexual too.

Yes 0-4 while struggling to make first downs most of the pre-season makes me think Super Bowl baby! My bad!

I believe one of the games was against the Cardinals and I thought this might be some of the worst football anyone would have to witness.

Pre-season football is fools gold either way. For example, I saw a post suggesting that Hicks should be cut on Saturday. The histrionics really just crack me up.

Lots of other garden variety dick ripping too…

He hasn’t proven it yet, not by a long shot. But you guys aren’t looking much better than him atm with your overreaction hot takes to every preseason play…

Bringing up the record to as a rebuttle to me is pointless as I said the record means nothing.
Yes the Cardinals game was bad thanks to two INTS from Cutler, but at leaset they looked like an NFL offense during the Raiders game which is something the starters have failed to do so far. Maybe than can turn it around and look presentable for the last game, I might change my mind...

The record was just a piece of the abyss I witnessed. You believe the Raiders game was a shining light. Cool…

I think other than how it impacts the bottom third of the roster, the pre-season doesn’t mean shit.
