Why does that history matter at all? None of the individuals in charge of those drafts are with the Bears. You trust Trestman and Emery to basically rebuild and restock an entire team correct?

If you can't trust them to get the most important position in team sports correct, how can you trust them with anything else?

You are correct, the history the Bears have of drafting QB's should not even come into this discussion. A more relevant discussion would be QB's Emery drafted, which I am not sure of any atm.

And if they resign Jay and draft a qb super late, people will clamor that the dude must be the future. Then again, the Bears drafted Enderle and Lefvour- so it's not like they haven't wanted another qb to groom er whatever. It just hasn't happened. Nor do I think it will. Honestly, this board is the only place I hear where people really think Cutler is going to be gone this season and not resigned long term; especially after Trest's press conference. Cutler is going nowhere. But I am in for the self implosion of this board.

I know one thing, none of you make any decisions for the Bears, so Jay is the starting QB until a Bear management official states otherwise and 70K to 100k most likely. He's as good as Romo and Ryan who already have it.

I don't see how he isn't. Again, Cutler has had less to work with, it's shocking to me people can't see that. Nonetheless, Bears fans need to get a grib. Cutler and O aren't the issue. They still are learning in O. Give it another year, too. Oh boy. Not to mention they have been playing great this season. but according to Bear fans management needs to get rid of qb and start over again. Man, can't you guys ever just chill out?

This.

The whole "Bears history with QBs" is THE dumbest argument for sticking with the current status quo. As if there's some kind of curse over Halas Hall.

I can deal with bad logic arguments because you can counter them with reason, but not logic that's based on nonsensical superstition.

The goal every year is to win the SB. To do that you have to have an outstanding QB, one capable of putting the team on his shoulders for a drive/a game/a stretch. Looking back at all the SB-winning QB's, there are very few mediocre names who ever won it. I've highlighted those I consider the lesser QB's (the BEARS could've started anybody with that D). You need "a guy" to win the big game. As good as McCown has looked, I don't see him continuing to play this well. I don't see him getting us there. I think Cutler can do it. Others don't.

The key now is that hopefully we have a QB maker, someone who will be able to make a QB out of someone. Other teams have had that. Look at how many teams go from one good QB to another. Has it finally arrived in Chicago? Seems like it.

SB Winning QB's since the SB was started (47 Super Bowls):

2012 - FLACCO
2011 - E MANNING
2010 - RODGERS
2009 - BREES
2008 - ROETHLISBERGER

2002 - BRAD JOHNSON
2001 - BRADY
2000 - TRENT DILFER
1999 - WARNER

1997 - ELWAY
1996 - FAVRE
1995 - AIKMAN
1994 - YOUNG
1993 - AIKMAN
1992 - AIKMAN
1991 - MARK RYPIEN
1990 - JEFF HOSTETLER (SIMMS PLAYED MOST OF THE YEAR)
1989 - MONTANA
1988 - MONTANA
1987 - DOUG WILLIAMS
1986 - SIMMS
1985 - MCMAHON

I agree with that. But I come with the mantra of, "If it ain't broke. Don't fix it."

The offense is #2 in scoring. How about we not scrap it up ? Let it grow

I still laugh at Flacco's contract. What the hell were the Ravens thinking. That was hilarious

McCown definitely runs this offense more smoothly IMO. I'm just sick of defending Jay. I say we keep him for another year or so and draft a new guy. With Trestman, I'm extremely confident in whoever he picks.

Because he's been nowhere near as productive. Pretty simple.

If cutler takes a serious discount that gets us space for fa upgrades on the d, we draft bpa in the first for a player that starts day one, I would say that is ideal, no?

How many GM's have the Bears gone through that have drafted busts at QB?..Until you can point to a successful GM that picked us some "elite" QB's, then I will be wary of how the Bears draft em. facts are facts..The Bears are shitty at drafting QB's...prove me wrong

Because it is broke. Literally. Even when it isn't (which most seasons it is at some point), it's highly inconsistent and turnover prone. I'm excited about what Trestman can do with this team. I don't want his legacy here ruined by anchoring it to a turnover-prone, injury-prone QB.

The Bears were #2 in scoring with Rex Grossman too so I'm not sure why you think that statistic proves the quality of a quarterback.

Hey, I liked Rex.
