And what point are you missing, it is the Captains responsibility to get HIS team in it and keep HIS team in it, and he hasn't done that. If a guy starts to become non-existant in the playoffs, it is the Captains job to light the fire under that players ass. That is what he is not doing. I am not arguing if he is a clutch player or not, I am telling you why he gets the blame...He is the fucking captain, that is why. In business, a team doesnt meet their deadline, who gets the blame? the team lead. A production line doesnt meet it's quota, who gets the blame? the line supervisor. It isnt fucking rocket science.

There are all kinds of moments I weill remember from Ovie, trying to seperate the game winners from a "normal" goal is nigh impossible.

But even if he's not "captain material" (which opens up a whole other discussion) if there's anything that he's done in the playoffs, it's keeping the Capitals in it. Against better teams. He's the only reason they stand a chance. Again, emphasis on the words against better teams.

Here is Ovechkins stats in Playoff elimination games:

4GP | 3G | 4A

1.75 PPG

Sorry if that's not "clutch" I don't know wtf more he can do. 7 points in 4 games.

Let me grab Crosby's stats in elimination games real quick:

11GP | 5G | 8A

1.18 PPG

Wow, 2 more goals in 7 more games. So much more clutch! I'm pretty sure this ends the argument.

This could be misleading. For all I know Ovie has a hat trick in one game and fell flat on the other three... Same can be said for Crysbaby... Contect of the goals is what makes them clutch, not whether or not they scored or how much. Were they meaningful. And that you cant' see on paper, you have to go to the tape.

.

1. He's over rated. 2-3 clutch, massively meaning full Youtubes have been posted showing "clutch". Game on the line moments.

2. He's not some one I'd build my team aroud.

3. I don't think, nor would I make Ovechkin a Captain.

.

And that's my point. In Variable's defense, just blame the Caps for making him the captain (I will admit, I don't know of anyone else on their team and how they would fit that role). Ovi to me is more like a Kane (at least like Kane is now). Get him out there, let him score, but don't put him up as the leadership face of your franchise.

Against Variable, being the captain is much like being a manager in the office. You may not do any of the real work (Although Ovi does), but it's you that takes the heat when those under you screw the pooch regardles of how you perform. Some have the innate ability to do that, others don't. Lou couldn't handle that well, and IMHO neither an the Sedins. I don't think Ovi handles it well. Toews does. After all, can you see any of those four in their rookie year coming out to the media saying that the entire team doesn't hate to lose enough? That moment, for me, was when I knew 100% that we found our captain.

Ovi is at the most an A (right now), not a C. Just my thoughts. Blame the caps for making him the C.

RK I just showed you his stat's in elimination games... how are those games not "clutch"? Those six games might have been the most important games of his entire career.

Do you know what an elimination game is? lol

4 of those 6 elimination games are Game 7's. (I screwed up, its 3G and 4A in 6 Elimination games, not 4)

Ovie has 2G 2A in 4 Game 7s.

So did you give Cheif the minus for disagreeing with you? Or who did?

Again Tony maybe you didn't watch those games. But in the end, down a goal, Ovechkin was MIA. Least in the four games I watched last year. Guess you should learn what "clutch" means. Or go watch the Youtubes above. When in "DESPIRATION" your team needs you, "Clutch" players step up. Kane, Toews.... Crosby in the Olympic....

oh gee so if you don't agree or go with the Norm you get a minus. You guys are a bunch of fucking pussies.

That plus minus thing is a fucking stupid. This place gets more like the officials every day.

If it's so fucking stupid, then why do you care about it? Why be such a big baby about it. You're welcome to post wherever you want.

Amen to that to be a rookie and have the brass ones to say that screams leader.

It's not just that--it's the way he did it. He didn't insinuate it was anyone's fault specifically. He called out the whole team and laid blame equally on everyone, including himself, and posed it more like a challenge more than anything. It's like you can almost see it in everyone's mind afterwards, from Kane to Lapointe "Oh yeah, I'll show everyone how much I hate to lose!"

And it worked. You could almost tell that the mantle of leadership was passed from Lapointe to Toews at that point.

It's a message board. There will be similarities to the officials in that regard. Big deal. So what if some one gave you a "minus." It doesn't mean that you bring less to the table as a fan. I forgot that we're allowed to disagree at times. There's no need to deliver a baby elephant named Otis to get that point across.

"Oh shit, I can quote something-- fucking commie pinko stupid boards that somehow remind me of the officials."

Perhaps we should get rid of the minus feature altogether and have a plus feature. It's doable. I see no problems in changing that feature.

I gave Grimson a minus, because he wants to be the center of a ******** of the entire NYR roster from 1990 to present day.

Rangers suck balls. A coach who's style was inventive and unique in the old NHL but is a mediocre coach in the new NHL. You have Gabby who's groin is due to explosion. LeBrichards who said he wanted to go play for a cup contender and then ended up proving he's just after the money and signed for the Rangers. And you guys have a goalie that deserves better than the NYR

If I had one team to root for in the east, it would be the Rangers.

Ha! Everyone is underestimating how good the Rangers are going to be this year. Richards is a lot bigger addition to that team than people realize.

Frolov-Richards-Gaborik

Wolski-Dubinsky-Callahan

Avery-Anisimov-Prust

Fedetenko-Boyle/Stepan-Rupp

That's just on paper... Dubisnky will likely spend a lot of time on the LW if Stepan continues to improve and that 3rd line is one hell of a checking line. I've heard that Avery might be getting some time on the first line with Richards and Gaborik as well since him and Gabs play well together and Avery is actually a pretty good hockey player when he's not being an asshole.

Their defense ain't too shabby either to go along with their world class goaltender.
