Most of the folks around me have been going to hockey games since before you and I were born, but I suppose there are those "new" fans. I ignore most of that, but the gimmicks and prices are driving me off. I can most definitely afford to move upstairs but I don't want too. I think more of what you describe goes on up there by far than in my section.

You can justify not gong any way you want but games like the other night, sitting at home is NOTHING like being there. Zero, ziltch, zippo....

I went to my first two games of 2012 in the past 2 weeks (Rangers, Caps). The 2000 level has turned into the bleachers at Wrigley.

The prices are ridiculous; the food quality has gone down so badly it's not worth it any longer.

I have 2 very good partners now who take the majority of the seats during the year since my son's hockey schedule takes up most of the time.

Honestly I enjoy going to various AHL arena's now to see those games while we are on the road.

I don't disagree with any of that but theres still nothing like being there for endings like the other night. It is not worth it though and that's the main fact.

Amazing how much I used to ***** about Bismark and how much WORSE LEVEY is than they ever were. The Food SUCKS shit and it more over priced that it ever was. This Wirtz is gouging the shit out of the fans FAR MORE than the other Wirtz ever did. No fucking doubt.

We won't be going to a lot of games next year.

$18,432 for 4 200 level endzone tickets for 44 games. Almost to the penny the price of my parent's house when they bought it.

yeah, I know where he sits, I sat in his seat in December. I don't think we met though. I just didn't know if he was keeping the 4, or going down to two since he had discussed it before.

I sell the other two for the entire season at the beginning of the year. For face, because really I don't know many people that would pay more than that to see a hockey game.

Last game I went to sucked, and it had nothing to do with the on-ice product. That place just isn't fun for hockey fans anymore. It's chock full of stupid fucking gimmicks and sideshows. You are also surrounded by idiots that don't know shit about hockey, and do nothing but ruin your experience by being loud, obnoxious, and fucking ignorant. It's just like a Cubs' game now, actually.

Exactly.

I'm sure as long as they have a long waiting list of fans ready to buy STH they won't be concerned about raising the prices. It's getting so expensive that the games we can't attend I have trouble selling for face. We are in 100s and I'm happy just to break even when I can't go. We thought of moving to the second level but I still can't understand the $1000 extra fee per seat just to have a waiter bring me my beer.

I called my ticket rep and they must have been prepped for the calls cause I felt he was 'reading' something that was prepared for them. Basically it explained the same thing we got in that letter they sent. That this team has made the playoffs 3 years in a row, blah, blah, blah. And that they need to stay competitive with other teams in the league. But I checked mutliple teams pricing and I don't see anyone as expensive as the Hawks other than Toronto. Especially our 300 level seats - we seem to be far higher on those.

And yet the Hawks own half the U.C., the parking and concessions. And they still need more money. What are they? The teacher's union?

Thanks to his Father. Reinsdorf wanted some of the parking when they built the building. Not only did they retain 51% but 100% of the parking Or NO UC!

The Hawks' home attendance is on pace to lead the NHL in per-game average for the fourth consecutive season. Counting regular season and playoffs, the team has played in front of 186 consecutive home sellouts, a franchise record.

Thus far this season, 861,298 have come through the turnstiles at the United Center, an average of 21,532 over the 40 dates.

Add the fact the waiting list for season tickets sit at 10,000, and the on ice product should be competetive for years indicates prices will continue to rise.

I am SO glad there is a thread like this so I may vent my anger.

When I bought my season tickets, they were 35$ per seat for my cost, 315 row 4 se 1-2. And for me (a guy with a mortgage downtown, no car, and live pretty frugal in my everyday life with a salary consumate of a 15 year+ finanical computer geek), sure, it was expensive, but I was going to every game. It was never an issue of money. It was my entertainment dollar that was easily paid for and gladly so.

Then increased. Ok, not a huge deal, I was ready for it. And the Cup run year, with trips and tiks to Philly hurt the ole pocketbook, but it was worth every cent. I wouldnt trade it for anything and I got to see some of the best hockey I will EVER see. But in order to recoup some of that, I will just sell off a few of the huge re-sell money games, help recoup the cost and I would go to every other game. Then more increase. To the point where I would put every game up for sale and go to the ones that didnt sell and at least I would have my two seats for the Playoffs. Then with the Playoff increase, I would have to sell those too to help pay?! THAT was the whole reason I would keep them in the first place! Live. Playoff. Hawks. Hockey. Not to just say "I am a ticket holder" like some sort of status symbol.

See, my season tickets were more than just going to see the Hawks. I moved around so much before Chicago that my tickets were confirming I was home. I was in the city that I came to love and this was my way of being a part of my Beloved Home city. It was also an affirmation to my early fan days of 1991-1992 when I really got into hockey and JR was "my man" to watch on games when I could catch them from my hometown of Cleveland. I solidified my new home, my love of hockey, and my fandom of the Hawks.

Now?

I. Am. Done. Done. If the Hawks dont go to past the second round this year, I will re-up for one more year, sell every fucking game and put the money into my bank account instead of the Hawks account ONLY to use up the balance. And never re-up again. If the Hawks get to 3rd round, I will use my credit to pay for that invoice, enjoy the Playoffs, and then be done. So any of you on the waiting list for 300 level, front 5 row tickets? You will get 1 up on the list if the Hawks get to the 3rd round. If they dont, well, you will for sure move up one slot on the list for 2013 - 14.

You keep increasing costs until the waiting list is gone and realize that is how far you can push people. Great, if that is the strategy, you win, Organ-i-zation. You have defeated me. I have at most, 1 more year of season tickets or 3 and 4th round of the Playoffs this year. They pushed me to the point where I have to make money decisions where in the past, it was never about the money. And they have managed to push and push until it was about money. It no longer has any of the feel that prompted me to become a holder in the first place.

You aren't alone my friend. They are running out some of the oldest and most loyal fans they've ever had. And, they don't care.
