Hey probably isn't the answer. But you can't definitively say that after a half a game in his first action in the pros. The chances of any QB coming from D2 to the NFL and succeeding are low. He is no exception. Tony Romo's don't happen often. And even he didn't start until his 4th year. Imagine Romo playing right away in 2003 right out of Eastern Illinois lol.
Eastern is I-AA, lots of players come from that level, including Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Kurt Warner and many others.

DII is much different.

- Effective at throwing quick, 2-3 yard passes (which oddly enough, is something Getsy loves to do) but on 1st down instead of 3rd and long.
- Ran a QB sneak that actually worked - a modern day miracle.
- Had a nice throw over the middle to DJ.
- The ability to throw ducks.
- The willingness to throw the ultimate YOLO balls.
- Kept in place the offense's consistency to commit high impact turnovers

Despite my half-serious, half-joking comments, I actually do hope he does well. I will forever be a fan of Justin's even if it hasn't worked out here in Chicago how any of us hoped. I really just want to watch some competent offense. It has been a tough year for me having to watch Nebraska football and the Bears attempt to play offense. Thank god for Duke football.
You mean Duke basketball.

You know this argument is pretty ridiculous in that it's going to work it's way out one way or another. I guess you are saying that if he succeeds, this will be the greatest success story in the history of organized activities.

He's #2 and took a couple vet's job to be that. The Bear took a financial hit to do it as well so they also see more than you do. Will he ever be starter material? I have no idea but no, he didn't hold the ball too long when he fumbled and was in the process of squaring up to throw. his arm strength is fine.
Soooo you’re saying he took too long to throw the ball then?

He took two vets jobs that also have no business being on a roster. So yeah, congrats that the bears decided to take a chance on an unknown over two crap knowns. Means a lot to you at least I guess

I’m fine with him starting while fields is out(don’t have any other options really). But the guy ain’t the answer either
That's why this discussion is about. Find out what you got . He is a backup for a reason, and you or noone else have an idea how he turns out long term. At this stage he is better backup than some in the nfl right now, give time before declaring he has no place in the nfl. I'm not sold on Fields at this point, we need to do better that's for sure. Fields is hurt, for now I prefer Bagent over Peterman..

This Bagent love is bizarre but expected because bears fans aren’t the brightest. Like, you see all the deficiencies on this offense from idiotic playcalling to shitty line play and you think that a udfa has a chance to do anything? Just smh

I prefer Bagent over peterman too, but that doesn’t mean much, if anything.

You say nobody can claim to know anything about his play ability, yet you then go on to state that he is already a better backup QB than some in the NFL right now…well how can you say that if nobody knows anything about his level of play yet?!

If you can claim he’s better than backup QB’s already, I can surely claim he’s not the answer for the Bears at QB, which is all I have said

The Bagent love is more of seeing a college QB who has WAY more snaps than backup QBs in their college and pro careers (3 years or less).

He had more career TDs than any college QB in the history of college football.

I am not saying that I expect him to be an instant success story, but, given the injury to Fields, what other backup QB would you rather see starting for the Bears?

Peterman? Trubisky?

You have to understand that there are not 32 starter level QBs in the NFL, meaning that the backup QBs are ass.

I would rather see what Bagent could do than trotting out a failed QB whose ceiling has already been established as only worthy for midgets.

So, in summary, you have the option of "not being the brightest", "being a mental midget" or "doing the same thing (backup QBs) and expecting a different result, which is the definition of crazy".

What do you choose?

And guys - when you have an untouched DL consistently coming free to the QB whether it's the Fumble-6 in the Denver game or the Fumble-6 in the last game, it's not an indictment on the quarterback it's a failure of basic pass protection understanding by the offense coordinator and offensive line coach.

That shit is playing with fire and nobody on the planet is going to succeed when this shit happens so consistently.

Buddy threw the ball 20 yards short on the INT.
Yeah, I think it was one of the worst passes any of us has ever seen. I still don't get it, was looking for some hand to have touched it but no. He said he just underthrew it which is a pretty biblical understatement.

Was his first game experience ever in this league so mistakes are supposed to happen. I know I am VERY interested to see what he can do and what his numbers are this week. He looks a lot more comfortable in the pocket than Fields and he sure gets rid of the ball more quickly.

Assuming all of us are interested in seeing what he does this week.

Lol I choose to completely stop caring about what happens with this team until the coach and gm are fired
