You're still wrong. The Cubs are getting older and have one of the oldest lineups. So, they need the spects because injuries will happen more and when they retire, etc.

Zack Greinke wouldn't have made us win the World Series. You can't just trade away the whole farm and spend money we don't have.

:obama:

This pretty much sums it all up.

They did it your way from 2006-2009. They also have had no farm since around 1920. How's that been working for you? I still don't see a ring from doing it your way.

Teams are afraid to trade prospects because they can get burned like the Bartolo Colon deal. The Cubs don't have the money and they don't prospects if they wanted to deal for Greinke.

What good teams do is trade prospect for proven players then replenish sytem in draft and trade them for more proven players....

You'd make an awful GM if you think draining the farm system is the key to success. And if replenishing the farm system is as easy as stocking up through the draft, then why haven't the Pirates had substantial success w/ that?

daddies3angels should become a Red Sox or Yankees fan if he wants to see a team use money like it's water and decimate the farm system for big-name players

What would the Phillies look like if they went by this philosophy?

The only way that works is if they get the right prospects back.. Which the Rays did a better job of.

Pirates keep there prospects. That why they have no sucess. There doing rebuilds on top of rebuilds.
