They're losing because they're playing the one team who has as much skill and speed as they do. And they're younger. They're like the 2010 'hawks team.

I think they're more like the '09 Hawks and they're about to get '09 Red Wing-ed but, yeah, there's a lot to like about this Tampa team.

Lmao, Teuvo and Hossa to blame!?! Are you fucking Special person? Hossa missed an empty net while he was cruising in mid air. Teuvo was one of the only bright spots last night for offensive forwards.

This loss is on the team not committing to defense through 60 minutes and your superstar forwards of Kane and Toews not producing much of anything.

I wish I knew how to read that

One thing you can do is hover your mouse over the statistical heading for each column, and the name of the statistic being depicted in that column will appear. Then use Google or whatever to figure out what those stats are indicating.

Which of the names in the title had the highest CORSI rating last night?

Stop posting with Grimson's account, Mass.

How long will you be keeping the Sox avatar? Too bad you couldn't start a fire Robin post over on the Sox forum.

Wonder what 88 and 19 are for the 3 games, since it's amounted to 1 point between them (the devil's advocate argument).

Yes and no. The Lightning are highly skilled and are the closest thing we've faced to a version of ourselves, but they aren't as talented or as deep as us.

Look, the Hawks are getting their game shoved back in their face. Tampa has the ability to compete with us from a skill and speed perspective. This is a different animal we're facing compared to Philly, Boston, Anaheim who were big, bruising teams.

But this is all correctable if we play like we did in the first period last night. We absolutely smoked them for those 20 minutes because we played with speed, we had movement off the puck and we made quick decisions. We also out hustled and out worked them.

For some reason, we let off the gas in the remaining 40 minutes. The Hawks aren't going to just out-skill Tampa when they decide they want to step their game up. We have to open the ice up and extend our pressure. Counter their speed and skill using our speed and skill, which is better.

The great thing about Kane is if he isnt scoring (which is great when he is) he isnt much involved anywhere else on the ice. His defensive positioning and active stick work just fucking blows this series and that doesnt help him or anyone else.

Im the first to rip on Saad but he sure the **** wasnt an issue last night nor during this series. Stupid to pin anything on him or Hossa this series. At least those two guys when not scoring are involved. Im tired of watching Kane float again but he does this all the time before he breaks out again. Its his style. Its annoying but it is what it is i guess.

Toews is at least involved also while not scoring. But yah right now with kane and toews not being productive on offense it fucking sucks. Sharp is being Sharp again and Seabrook had a fucking horrible game last night if you ask me. For the first time these playoffs it looked as if Seabs was getting tired. Probably pissed off that when ever he scores in a series the team goes flat right afterwards.

Also the team was brain fucked by the Bishop injury speculation. That entire Bishop shit was burried in the Hawks brains last night. Too fucking busy trying to exploit some mystery injury that they didnt play their fucking game. Team focus has been fucking shot since after game 1.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
There was plenty wrong with last night's game, but I'm giving T² a pass on it--even if he missed a wide-open net he's been one of the brighter guys on the squad. Ditto with VanReimsDyk. 2 rookies should never get the blame in a SCF game...at home...that the team lost by collectively having their heads so far up their asses they could taste their tonsils.

That was the problem...the only time anything good happened was when they played like a team--and that was few and far between. Toews, Kane, Crawford, Sharp, Hossa, Seabrook, Saad, Oduya, et. al should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Just insert the proper teams and change it to playoffs and you can view it all here

To give you the highlights from what I saw, Marian Hossa is the best this series with an overall +25 Corsi differential. Toews/Seabrook/Saad follow at +12.

The entire 2nd and 3rd lines for the Hawks are all negative, but only in single digits. Sharp/Vermette/Teuvo are all -6 each. Kane is -3.

I think my favorite stat from that is the +4 Corsi differential for Marcus Kruger, despite the fact that he's never been on the ice for a draw in the offensive zone. That's goddam impressive.

****. Corsi. Ratings.

Versteeg's Corsi rating was tops in game 1 - even higher than Keith's. Put Corsi to rest once and for all.

Hossa's game was fine yesterday. The guy barely hits the net with a goalie in, didn't expect him to do it without. It was one of the old man's better games of the year. Saad played well too. Anytime he's physically involved, he has success. Toews would be better if he was 1)off the PP and 2) didn't fall down once a shift.

Corsi ratings are fine. They're not going to tell you everything but they sure as **** can tell you something. In small sample sizes, yeah, there's going to be some statistical anomalies such as the one you mentioned. But when you look at 3 games and you see that all three players from the line of Saad/Toews/Hossa are well into double digits in a positive Corsi rating, that means good things for the Hawks.

Corsi isn't the only thing detailed at that website. Fenwick is in there, as are Off/Def Zone starts.

Yeah they are to blame for last nights game. They both missed wide ope nets which cost us the game and the series lead. They both score and it's a whole different game. That's great that Teuvo had two good games down in Tampa but that was then, this is now.

Watch what you say objectively about Toews. Tons of meatball fanboys here.

I sincerely hope all the Toews hate is an inside joke. I always figured it had to be just your way of egging him on to greatness. We are so lucky to have a winner and competitor leading this team in the modern NFL, Q compliments him well. I think we are going to trounce these ******* bad tomorrow and swing some momentum back to us.
