This day fucking sucks. The high for today is -12. Been plowing snow for last 3 hours. Truck is taking a beating.

Bleh so we have people coming in to the office Monday-Wed this week.... so my boss says WFH morning, come in for the afternoon.

Now what fucktardedness is this.... ima go down on a noon train, stay in a frozen city for 3-4 hours and then freeze my ass off going back home.

And on top of it they made sure people were flying in yesterday night or today or w/e.... FFS just delay them a day or give them Monday off.

I know companies need to use their time as wisely as possible, but at some point its just idiotic.

Profit over all else, even if you spend up spending more on overhead because not much work is actually getting done.

My company is open today but i was given clearance to work from home even though my job isn't exactly that doable from home, I just uploaded a bunch of work Friday.

But yeah, its days like this I think most non-essential activity should be just shut down.

LOL....you may be correct.

Other than a snow storm here or there, Chicago has had good winters this last decade. When I was a kid, it was the norm to deal with what we're experiencing now.

Scoot keep in mind this is the same company that planned and forced us to go on a scavenger hunt a few weeks ago through the city of Chicago in subzero wind chills.... I am pretty sure they want me to die.

The cold hasn’t really affected me much at all today. My car started up with no problem and there was 0 chance of my work closing. The streets were pretty empty so I had a nice, easy commute in.

I’ll take cold 10 times out of 10 over shoveling any amount of snow.

They canceled schools for today and tomorrow. They had a snow day the last day before Christmas break which was when they were taking their finals. So they still haven’t gotten the last day of finals in from the first semester.

I think they have to make up 3 or 4 days at the end of the year now.

Pfffft, all you really need is a good set of snow tires. I drove a GT Mustang year round, even during the snow storms that lasted 3 days.
It was an absolute ***** to drive my old GT in snow, but I was forced to 1 winter. It had a Tremec 3550 5 speed with a low first gear combined with 3:73's in back. I drive a 5.0 Exploder
AWD nowadays, and I have to agree with another poster stupid peeps think they're invincible with 4wd or AWD, just like somehow they thought anti loc brakes enabled them to not skid in snow or ice...

I have a Toyota and a Chevy, and I'll bet everyone can guess which POS car wouldn't start today.

Yep, the POS Chevy with half the mileage of the Prius.

And speaking of Prius, they drive like shit in the snow b/c you have no control over your own RPM's.

Time for 2 new cars.:shot:

Older cars with more mileage will start better in cold weather cause the engine is looser and will turn over easier

Interesting theory, less friction=less required cranking amps on batteries...makes sense. Chevy started right up w/a 1 hour charge, probably could use a new battery.

The Prius has 2 batteries, one is a back-up in case main battery fails...that car starts no matter what.

Wanna buy it?...sucks in snow.

**** a Prius..They come from the factory with an Obama bumper sticker...lol

My father showed me about the older cars...Every guy in the neighborhood that had a beater with a good battery started right up in the cold...Guys with newer cars had more trouble...The oil gets so thick that the tighter tolerances in a newer engine makes it hard on starting..The old shit cans were loose as a goose, and therefore spun easier and started right up
