I am not talking about "knocking out" current guys. But following them, yes.

Not talking specific players as much as saying generally that I disagree with the few who say "go for it", apparently at any cost.

Candelario or Vogelbach? Good trade assets with players blocking them. Trade them if need be (and we did with one).

Schwarber? Torres? Eloy? The return better be here more than 2016.

Not sure what you mean..
In 10-15 yrs when Rizzo Russell Bryant Contreras, etc careers wind down

Well no, their not going to trade a top prospect for a 35 YO rental..
But they probably will trade lesser prospects for a rental if they choose to go after a LH bat in Reddick Bruce or Beltran
If Epstein sights still on Chapman, it will cost a little more but not their best prospect.. Soler could be a possibility with lesser prospects.

Candelario won't bring back much

Of course if they trade those guys, the return better be for solid starting pitching

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Most good teams cant afford to let someone like Soler develop and find himself. They need to be able to perform and add value quickly
And yet the patience they've shown with Russell disproves your point.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/...ap-involving-melvin-upton-ubaldo-jimenez.html

Can someone explain what the **** on this to me? I don't get it at all. Upton is hitting .260/.309/.448 and the O's need another OF so I sorta get that. Ubaldo has been atrocious with a 7.03/4.64 ERA/FIP. Ubaldo has one year $13.5 mil left. Upton has $16.45 mil over one year left. So from that stand point I sorta understand but the O's have one of the worst pitching rotations in the majors right now and they are trading away from it?

You're not getting Sale without trading a major leaguer. Not even starting the conversation.

Well it is what the Sox want more that what teams want to give.

Teams have winning Windows. Theo built one here where the talent hits at the same time. He will create another or move on. Whatever he decides to do.

Sox can win now or fire sale and pack the farm to create a winning window like Theo did also.

Heard some interesting stuff about the Sox yesterday as to why they can't seem to go one way or the other. The thing is here though that they could get young core players for either Sale or Quintana and stay competitive. The question is will they?

They have the talent. They need a new management team.

Doubtful

All they need is a bat like Montreu. The "best" LH PH they would have in a series is Coghlan.... Maybe LaStella....

Josh would start in LF which cuts playing time directly to Contreras. Which is why those rumors are just hot air.

So supposedly the sox are asking for "5 top prospects" for Sale. I'm not sure what exactly the definition of a "top prospect" is. If they want 5 top 100 prospects for him I'm not sure anyone is going to be able to do that. If they just want a top 5 prospects on a team that has a decent farm system that seems possible. But to throw out an idea... if the cubs offered Happ, Soler, McKinney, Candelario and say Underwood that seems like a pretty fair offer and would leave the cubs options. They'd keep Torres and Jimenez as well as Cease, De La Cruz, and Albertos.

Tommy Stokke @StokkeTommy
Not a joke: Source says Sale blowup was because he didn't want to wear throwbacks, so he cut the jerseys up so no one could wear them.

@Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #Cubs strong in mix for #Yankees’ Chapman. At least two other clubs involved.

Told ya, they aren't done yet

Epstein had his sights on Miller and Chapman, Miller staying put, so now he going hard after Chapman..
Wouldn't surprise me if Soler part of the package, especially if. he looking to add a LH bat.

If it was a even Soler for Chapman swap I wouldn't mind. Yanks are buying control over Soler. He still has star potential if he can stay healthy. They lose Chapman anyways in a non play off year.

If they are asking for more they should pass. There is not a clear need going on to upgrade Rondon.

Talking tonight top 100. Torres, Contreras, Happ, McKinney, Underwood.

That is the offer they want. Losing Contreras would be too much.

Torres, McKenny and Underwood are fine. They would have to sub in Ceace and De La Cruz and it makes it a good entry level offer.

I don't think it's a matter of upgrading Rondon

Think its more of thinking ahead and having a shut down lefty to use late in playoff games against teams like the National and Giants whose best hitters are LH

Plus

With Strop Rondon and Chapman, they pretty much have a 3 man rotation to close out the 8th and 9th inning keeping them all fresh..
Add in Wood Montgomery Edwards and Cahill

This ends up being a stud bullpen making it tough for teams from 7th inning on.

I agree with chibears55.

Sure hope they make a push for Chapman. He can be a differentiator come playoff time.
