I seriously do not get the love affair with Borom. Guy has proven nothing. Played next to nothing. I’m not saying he can’t be good…. But all this love seems based on a few tweets two weeks ago.
He was on the ground against the Bills a couple of times that I saw somewhere. But, there wasn't a sack

When I was focused on Borom, I was thinking that even when he wasn't winning the rep he was giving enough for a mobile guy like Fields. I'm not sure if that's true with Dalton.

Borom's college tape was solid against SEC competition. I watched everything that was available.

He had nimble feet and gave ground in college before walling off the pocket, but this week in early snaps I saw him get pushed too far back into the pocket. He'll surely need work but he didn't look lost.

Ideally, I'd like Peters to hold down the position and give Borom some time to develop. It's a good situation for the rookie to have such an accomplished vet in the room with him. Not sure what Peters has left but I don't think Charles Leno is too high of a bar to climb if he can stay on the field.
I would agree with this, and also add Borom has just as long a way to go as Jenkins did moving from a college RT to pro LT. I would hope Peters stays healthy long enough for Borom to adjust.

I'd keep him over Wilkinson, not bars. Eiselen has never played real competition and bars has been decent when he's got a chance
Different positions. Never seen Eiselen outside.

Cutler came back for 10million, Peters is coming back for almost vet min...
Even if Peters can put in 4-5 good games until Borom gets a bit more up to speed it was obviously worth it. The OL needed a veteran locker room presence anyway. Not too much to argue with the signing besides Pace letting it get this fucking bad.

What's the point of doing that if he doesn't have any weapons? Field shouldn't see the field without a HOF line and multiple HOF skill positions. Otherwise he might be RUINED!

No need for a HOF line. Just not the garbage O line the Bears have.

Really really wrong takes on those tweets.
So let's risk our future franchise on a piece of shit line against one of the most destructive pass rushers the very first game. Not only risk him being crushed but start instilling in him all the bad habits that come with not being able to trust your O-line. I guess it's never too early to ruin a good QB.
Dalton is not good but I am all for him being the QB while this O-line tries to find it's ass with both hands.

And just because your QB can take "one of the hardest shots that 'caved in his chest'" does that really mean you want him to?

This year is fucked. This team is fucked until we get a head coach that is NFL caliber and a GM that understands player evaluation. I want the Bears to contend this year but it won't happen. Let's not kill our chances for future years... after all, how many JF's are we going to be able to draft?
So, the OL is bad to mediocre next year—bench Fields until it improves.
2023—the OL is still bad. Bench Fields.
2024—the OL is even worse. Bench Fields
2025-2035—the OL gets marginally better, but still pretty bad.
Fields retires.

Is that the plan?

We have to protect our investment. Even if that means not getting a return on the investment. We'll rebuild the defense and continue to say Fields can't play because no oline wah wah

LOL I mean, I'm sorry, I should have put that in green text with rolling eyeballs.

I don't see the OL being anything special for a few years.
This year it will likely be bad to mediocre.
Next year probably the same unless they draft five OL and they are all studs.
So...how long do we wait? Fuck it. Get Fields out there. Let him learn against starting teams.
My dad taught me to swim by throwing me in the deep end of the pool.
Fields is a first-round pick. Start him.

I'm glad you learned how to swim. These guys wouldn't have thrown you in the deep end until all the water was drained for fear you'd drowned
