I forgot Dalton and foles aren't trying to win. My bad, I need to remind myself of that
Okay, I've changed my reply to something less derisive. Look, dude. I know every pro athelete wants to win but there is a difference between an experienced QB that knows this down isn't the end-all-be-all down of the season and a rookie really trying hard to be superman and carry the team on his shoulders. One is more likely to not be injured than the other. And honest to god, Tom Brady could QB for us and we won't be winning week 1.

I'm ready to see Fields play with the 1s because I'm very concerned we've saddled another Bears QB with a bad Oline and an underwhelming receiving corps.

He didn't have hardly any of his starters to play with at WR/TE or his OL.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
I want to see Justin Fields as the starter now, because Tv onion potato! I mean seriously I just want to see him playing real games now! but not the "now" Justin Fields. I want to see the 2023 Justin Fields, 3rd year player who has learned through hard fought experience and I want to see that Justin Fields now! ... as the saying goes... It's good to want things...

Nothing in this thread is convincing me to adjust my 2-15 forecast, and I am pretty much a Bears homer.
You know if Richard Dreyfuss hadn't left his family behind in Close Encounters to go with a bunch of aliens, the world would be a better place, Covid would have never happened, and the Bears would have a staff like Baltimore's, where they're in the playoffs- every year.

I think people are overestimating how good Peters will be....

He is a liability on an average NFL line right now.....Maybe he has some left in the tank but he won't be consistently productive

Nagy is so gonna fuck this up trying to recreate what Reid did in KC. I’d kinda understand if Dalton was here last year but that’s not the case
There are sooooo many differences, that it's nonsensical to put the square peg in a round hole.

-Reid had had much more success in Kansas City at the time than Nagy has had in Chicago.

-Alex Smith had been on the team for several years before Mahomes was drafted, and was coming off having the best passer rating in the NFL and a 30-TD season.

-Smith knew the offense and had been with the same coaches on the team for years.

-There is no best practice for whether to sit or start a rookie QB. Find an example of a QB that sat and played great will be met with other examples of QBs who started and played great, or rookie QBs who started and played terrible, or rookie QBs who sat and played terrible.

There is no template. To base the development of your rookie QB on a cherry-picked circumstance elsewhere that's nowhere near similar to your circumstance anyway is incredibly foolhardy, but I suppose we're going to have to watch it all play out.

Borom starting with Peters on the squad to back up and help him acclimate would be kinda awesome.

Justin fields has to play early and should be starting week 1. He gives the team the best chance to win. All the other guys deserve to have the best players on the field around them. They all have a shelf life and they are out there to win.

Really really wrong takes on those tweets.
So let's risk our future franchise on a piece of shit line against one of the most destructive pass rushers the very first game. Not only risk him being crushed but start instilling in him all the bad habits that come with not being able to trust your O-line. I guess it's never too early to ruin a good QB.
Dalton is not good but I am all for him being the QB while this O-line tries to find it's ass with both hands.

And just because your QB can take "one of the hardest shots that 'caved in his chest'" does that really mean you want him to?

This year is fucked. This team is fucked until we get a head coach that is NFL caliber and a GM that understands player evaluation. I want the Bears to contend this year but it won't happen. Let's not kill our chances for future years... after all, how many JF's are we going to be able to draft?

and if the oline never find its ass then Fields never plays then..... right ?
